Pearson Trick Said that I passed, BUT...................

Published

Okay. So I arrived at Pearson Vue @ 7:45am to take my NCLEX-RN. I started the exam around 8:15am. I finished with 75 questions @ 9:32am. The questions were tooooooo easy. I'm concerned because I know that the computer issues questions based on the answers to the previous answers. I felt like I did really well on the questions, but they all seemed to be the type of questions that are below the passing standard. I watched the videos posted by Kaplan so I just kept picturing the passing line and Bloom's Taxonomy. My exam was just tooo easy. My classmates have taken it and most have passed. They all said that it was haaaaaaaaaaard. It took them a long time to do the minimum or nearly the entire time to do the max or close to it. It's a hard exam. I don't understand what happened to mine. I tried the Pearson trick about 500 times and I get the good pop up, but I'm still afraid. It was just an odd experience. I was praying that the computer shut off at 75 questions...and it did. I just thought that I'd have some REALLY difficult questions. So, the Pearson trick worked and everyone said that it was a good sign, but I don't know. I am FREAKING out!! Can anyone tell me what their experience was? I mean when people say that the NCLEX was easy, I heard they were liars, but my test was toooo easy. Just like I tested with all of the non-passing questions.

O my o my i hope and pray that I get easy questions, or at least questions that I know!

That's EXACTLY what I prayed for....and I guess I got it. :)

Every single class mate that has taken the NCLEX in the last month along with myself has done the trick & have all passed with 75 q's. Believe it, you passed! The exam was completely different for all of us. I have NO idea how they put it together. I guessed on most of the answers and passed!

Congrats!!!

Thanks! And Congrats to you too!:yeah:

I took the test a week ago and passed with 75 questions, and from question 1 to 75, I must say I knew the answers or the couple I didnt I could work it out using strategies.

I had everything on my test, except dosage calculations, I had 9 SATA's, medications, cultural diversity, OB, Psych, Infection control, Prioritization.....I had the gamut of questions.

I think it is a testament to how well you prepared for the test. As someone who took the test a couple times before, I can honestly say, my last test was easy, but I believe it was due to how well I revised this last time.

Dont look a gift horse in the mouth, just accept it and move on....now the hard part begins, finding a job.........hehe

Congrats

I too thought I had bombed it because the questions looked like they were below the passing line. (I took Kaplan too, and I watched that CAT video explanation.) I got 75 questions.

PVT = pass; official results = pass. After I found out I passed, I looked at the NCSBN site to explain the assumed simplicity of the questions, and they claim that only 50% of people can determine where a question falls in Bloom's Taxonomy.

Hmmm. Your exam sounds like mine. :clown: I think I only had 4 or 5 SATA's though. In addition I also had a click and drag item. I had no math, except for a question where I used my own math skills just for the sake of using them. It was completely unncessary but I did it anyway....just in case, you know. I only had one medication that I KNEW. The other medications were unfamiliar but because the generic names are listed I was able to figure out the drug class and answer. I guess Kaplan REALLY helped and it wasn't a complete waste of time. I need to write them a letter. :heartbeat I also need to Thank Mr. Roy (Kaplan Instuctor) for the drug ending list that he posted for my class.

Oh, and yes! I have a job. I guess I did everything out of order. :uhoh3: I found the job FIRST and then I scrambled to pass the exam. Ha Ha. How crazy! My employer told me not to worry and that I would still have a job, but hospitals are businesses and things are "subject to change". It didn't help any that a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH larger AND reputable hospital just bought us last week!! The stress! Anyway, thanks for responding and good luck to you!

Yeah, I guess you're right. I spent most of my time trying to determine the type of question that I had. I just freaked myself out during the exam. By the time I had finished, I had just accepted that there was no way that I had passed because it NEVER got difficult. I told myself that I'd done my best and that's all that I could do. Apparently I had no idea where I was on Bloom's Taxonomy.

Congrats to you on passing! Woo Hooooooooooooo! We did it!!

I thought the NCLEX was too easy too. Mine shut off at 75 questions and then, like you started freaking out because I thought the questions were too easy which meant that I was not up to par. I did the PVT and got the good pop up. Four days later I got my official results that I passed. Relax, you must of studied really hard, so much so that the questions they threw at you were a piece of cake. Good luck with your official results!

This might be best posted in the student section, but ill say when i can to help you.

I took it last year. I started at 7:45 and got done around 9:20. The computer shut off at 75 questions. When i got done i walked out of there thinking "I have NO clue" i felt good about it, like i knew the answers or was able to take an educated guess but there is always that doubt about yourself. So I did the pearson vue trick, and according to the pearson vue trick i passed!!! I tried not to get too worked up until i had the official "Pass" on my test results. The next day i payed the $7 to see the "Pass" as i didn't trust the pearson vue trick.

So needless to say, the pearson vue trick was correct for me. I have not yet met anyone that the pearson vue trick was wrong for.

My friend that failed her first two times the pearson vue trick was correct in saying she failed, and on try number 3 the pearson vue trick said she passed (and she really did).

and by the way, i took Kaplan as well. Apparently i got "passing level questions" and did good on those because i passed. So i thought that NCLEX passing level questions was easier than Kaplan passing level questions, as well as ATI. I felt it was pretty equivalent to Lippincott or Saunders.

I felt the same way- a lot of my questions seemed very "easy" but then I had a couple of tougher ones that were mostly judgment calls that I went back and forth on- I felt like after I'd have one of these I'd then have a streak of easy ?s that I knew for sure the answer to, which freaked me out b/c I thought for sure I was dipping below the passing line. I prepped myself for question 76 after hitting "next" after #75, and the test shut off. PVT trick came up good, and after reviewing the questions w/ textbooks, I felt way better. I think I have a tendency to focus on the questions I had a tougher time with rather than the 65 others that were easy. I'm sure you passed- congrats! :yeah: :nurse:

I completely understand. When I hit the next button after I finished question 75, the screen turned blue and asked that I complete a survey. I was frantic! I said "It didn't even give me a chance!".

Anyway, like many others, I'm doing the PVT every so often just to make sure nothing changes. :0 I can't wait to get my official results so my family and church family can celebrate with me! Yaaaaaaay! Congrats to you, as well.

Good luck with your official results.
