PDA's for Student Nurses??? Helpful or Not???

has anyone found the pda's for student nursing helpful? i am considering purchasing one but am not sure. what are your thoughts on these devices? thanks

PDAs can be a wonderful resource to use. The only thing I would be careful about is it being stolen or misplaced. In addition, see if your school allows them. Mine didn't.

My school allows them on clinical days.. I got a ipod touch and I so far have not used it but hopefully it will come in handy...

I hated the PDA that was required last year for our school it was slow and so many students had problems with theirs freezing up or not even turning on. This year they upgraded and now we use nursing central, i downloaded it on my ipod touch and love it.

I'm thinking of getting one as well for my program as my school does allow them. I'm just not sure WHAT kind to use? Do I need to get an iPod touch? A Palm? A Dell?

My school gives every student their very own ipod touch with med softwareon it. I start my LVN program in a few weeks.. what exactly are the PDAs used for?

I got a palm pda and medical software. Did not see the site you recommended or it did not exist when I bought mine. Interesting thing for the palm pda is they have a keyboard that you can use to take notes in class (should you want). I have used the pda in clinical, but found it cumbersome..plus I had to make sure it was in my pocket and not left at the bedside. What I did like was the ability to review info when I could not use my computer...say while waiting for someone, or on a train, plane, etc.

I was not that thrilled with the med guide as it is very abbreviated. It offers info but not as extensive as the nursing med book. From what I have seen, the on line books that are offered for the pda are also abbreviated.

I am going to get an Ipod Touch. You can get all kinds of medical books and software to load on a pda or ipod touch from a website called skyscape. My school recommended this website and using an ipod touch.
