PBSC Spring 2015 Nursing

Published

I created this thread for those applying to Spring 2015 LW Nursing. I am a returning student starting a second career. I have 4 prerequisites left that I am taking this summer. I also am taking the Critical Thinking class for a point. I took the Hesi last week to see how I would do and got an 85. I will have about 27 points for my app so not sure if I will take Hesi again. Good luck everyone.

And to anyone who attended a info seminar, I was planning on attending the May 15th one, were people turned away? Or if I get there about 15 minutes early well I have a seat?

@Jessicaengle I went to the info session on 4/16. No one was turned away. There were SO many people there. I would get there early. It started at 4:30, I got there at 4:00 and there were already a lot of people there.

Regarding pharm, if you transfer, you will need to take a "higher" pharmacology class.

I'm taking all my summer classes online . Except for micro lab. I'm a bit worried about micro, heard it's a tough class.

Who are you taking micro with?

@jessica. Depends who you have for micro. I have Liang for lecture and everyone I know said it's easy. Everyone said how hard AP2 was and I thought it was way easier than AP1. If you do the work you'll be fine. All these classes are hard subjects but it will only get tougher. Fall semester last year I signed up late and took what I could get. All my professors got horrible ratings. I had AP1, Chem, Human growth, and AP Lab. None of my professors gad a rating above 2.0 and I had a 4.0. I take rate my professors with a grain of salt.

Alright, I get out of class at 3:15, but in gardens! Hopefully I can make it there by 3:45. Want to get that done sooner than later.

@jessica , Kershner for lecture Fairbanks for lab.

@cgambino70 couldn't agree more about ratemyprofessor. I check it out, but don't take it too seriously. A majority of the comments complain about the amount of work, umm, hello, it's school....you aren't just handed a degree ?. For critical thinking I went with an instructor with no ratings and she was awesome. I also agree that AP2 was easier than AP1. All the cat stuff confused me, but ya know.

@jessicaengle I had Carolyn Allen for micro. Her lectures were super long, but so informative.

I've been at broward college & we used pigs instead of cats so that would've been a bit strange lol

Pigs would have been more fun but my cat was enormous. Didn't fit on our tray and weighed about 30 lbs. I have Urresta for Critical. I had 5 classes this semester and was pretty easy. This summer with 5 might take a bit more studying.

@Tobs. How was critical thinking? Easy A or do you have to study a lot?

Lol, yeah, definitely strange.

I had the totally opposite! Our cat looked like it hadn't been fed in a year. It was very hard to see what was going on inside. I am taking 5 classes this summer. The last of my gen ed classes. Totally dreading speech lol.

Critical thinking was really good. I learned so much. Get ready to buy index cards for the medical terminology. I had a ton of Flashcards. The reading done for the test success book was a pain, but it really gave great tips on time management, test taking, and studying.
