PBSC Spring 2011 hopeful......

Published

Applied to PBSC RN Program for Spring 2011. Playing the waiting game. I decided to apply to the Belle Glade Campus.....

From what I understand the Spring is usually lower in points needed to get in than the Fall for the day program. But the part-time program, from what I understand, is very competitive, because they only admit once a year and only have 30 spots. I have 28.97 points and applied to the part time program. Hopefully that is enough. I can't wit to hear back from them. The suspense is killing me. Good luck to everyone.

wow!! i think you will definitely get in, i think the spring cut off is lower than fall.. did you turn your application in really early, because i still am in the "pre-program application " status?? i will only have around 20 points, but i decided to turn my application in anyway. i should have around 28 pts in the fall.

mine says, "application status- complete". does it list your points? maybe they are still evaluating some of the applications.

Mine doesn't list anything, it looks the same way it always did in pre-program application..but like you said, they may still be evaluating applications. I call but i never seem to get my questions answered

So, when you go into panther web and click on limited access application status it doesn't show your points or what you turned in? I quoted it wrong before, when I go into pantherweb it says Current Status-complete.

They must still be evaluating the applications, which is why they say it takes two weeks to get an answer.

Yeah, when i go into my pantherweb limited access application, it shows the list of the point system, but it does not list any points, and my status still says pre-program. You are probably right about the 2 week window, especially since i turned my application in the day before the deadline.

I also turned mine in Thursday morning at Lake Worth. They may go alphabetically or there may be different staff splitting them up. The woman at the registration office told me she recieved A LOT of applications and she was not the only one accepting them.

They are probably still evaluating applications. Mine says "complete" too and I turned it in 2 days before the deadline. I bet you will get in in the fall, though. With 28 points you'll beat out most people. It's still nervewracking, though!

I hope there aren't too many people applying.. at the information session last month it was so packed they had to kick half the people out and hold a second session for them! The more people there are, the less chance to get in >.

I'm pretty sure i will get in for the Fall semester or even in may at Broward college. I just want to make sure that i didn't pay for a $20 application for PBSC that they never received. It doesn't even show that i paid for the application..hmm? Anyways your points are closer to the cutoff and i hope you get in!

I was at that session too. A few people around me said they weren't ready to apply yet and I bet some of them also didn't meet all the requirements. I just wonder how many people who weren't accepted in June applied now. I know it's stressful waiting, but I think you have a great chance. Hope we make it in too!

I was at the information session also where people were asked to leave!

It was a bit scary to see so many people.:uhoh3:

I applied for Belle Glade with 27.82 points, with no Florida residency points allowed for me

I didn't want to risk not getting into LW. I made up my mind I won't wait another semester, I have been thinking about doing this for to long, I just took the leap.:nurse:

Good luck to everyone, the wait is starting to get to me though.

hi dcaradon,

I applied to pbsc's full time lake worth program, but i only have around 21 points. I also applied to Broward College, because i have a better chance of getting in there. I'm a little discouraged after reading your post. Do you think many students are failing because they are not studying/preparing enough for there courses OR do you think the program is just extremely difficult? Also, which campus do you attend?

I am at the north campus. no i dont think many students are failing bc lack of prep. its A LOT of reading and work. you are also taking the pharm and math class at the same time. but they really dont take much time up at least for me. but the biggest problem is the testing people misunderstand the questions and get it wrong. Nursing school is hard but in my opinion and many of my class mates agree they try to get you out. they only want the top notch people to pass. they want to weed you out.they are very strict which is fine but they are not encouraging at all. I have never heard the word fail so many time used in a one week period. all they talk about is when you fail etc etc. thats the whole orientation lol. so if you are that type that needs encouragement this is not the place for you. However, they are known to produce top quality nurses bc if you do get out of the school you will be the best around. if not you WILL fail out. If you are not willing to do studying everyday this is not the school for you. they are not playing when they tell you you need to study 30 hours a week for this class alone. Before nursing school I was a straight A curve breaking student. I got a 100% on my a&p 2 final for ex. my first nursing school test 76%. then i learned how to adjust my thinking and i got a 94 which is insane good people looked at me like i was lying when they asked what i got. however, yes a lot of people are failing and need a miracle to make it into process 2. we started with almost 100 people we are down to about half now. out of those people a lot are not making it so far. a nurse at my clinical site graduated at bc and she said her process one class started out at 100 and 25 people made it to process two. i you have any more questions feel free to ask. i wish you the best of luck. i would go with pbcc ive never heard anything but good things. bc ive heard the same stuff ive just told you before i joined but their first pass nclex rate is extremely high and pbcc's is not as high
