Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.
I read on line that this school works on a point system
I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program
(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO
WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.
Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.
Thanks
I have off in the summer and I have started to study. I have been told 2nd semester is really hard, alot of patho. I did clinicals at belle glade and hendry hospitals, basically med surg, I saw 2 operations, went once 2 icu and the health dept.
I know its alot of studying, I cant imagine being in an eccelerated class. You should try and do something everynight. I am glad 1st semester is over and you will get there 2. Do you do alot of care plans?
we havent started with care plans yet, but they mentioned it briefly and that we should purchase the Cox care plan book.
i questioned myself also about the accelerated program, but i had no choice as this is when the semester started. otherwise the next class is in August.
dont remind me about studying...and yes im a procrastinator(but im trying to get out of bad habit)
Do you know if i can transfer after first semester is over? have you ever heard of this been done?
im a procrastinator too, so i understand... thats why i say try and do something everynight... I am sure you can, try calling whatever school you are interested in going. I know at BG we lost 8 students. Where do you want to transfer? When do you finish this semester? If you dont mind me asking do you not like it there? You should for sure buy the book! You'll get through it, I am sure of it!
you should buy the mosbys ackley nursing dx book that will help you tremendously with your care plans, I am read your message to quick and i dont know what book it is they want you to buy
i wanted to go to LW campus. its not that i dont like it, i just prefer PBCC better. fundy teacher is very nice but ive heard from upperclassmen that as you go along the teachers get rought(not that ,that scares me) but my heart was always set on pbcc from day one.
you know what i do have the cox book, but i havent even open it yet lol (i should ain't it). between the fundy book, my nclex cd questions and study guides i have no time to process books that are not needed now.
im going to scan the pages now for my lecture class tommorow. were doing specimens and legal ethical cultural chapters. have a good night and enjoy your summer break. choooww
Hi all! I applied for Fall 09 too! The waiting is so tuff:no: ! Does anyone know how long the decision process takes? I see that some postings are people who reapplied..Oh no! You guys will probably get in no problem this time as you are in better shape. How long did it take the first time to find out? I try to tell myself that if I dont get in for Fall there is always Spring 2010 but Im not so sure I feel that positive on the inside! I've worked so hard to get to this point. Any advice out there how not to stress????
I reapplied this semester. I missed the cut off by less than 1 point. This time around I am in much better shape but we'll see if it's good enough.
Last time they said we would know by mid to late Oct. They sent out an email on Oct 16 saying they were backed up because the RN apps were not put online until much later than they normally are available. Anyway, then they said we would get the answer on or before Oct 31. I got my denial on the 27th I believe.
Rrymel, you are right. There is always next semester. As hard as that was for me to swallow, time went by very quickly.
Advice on how not to stress? I am the QUEEN of stress!!! I am just trying to keep my self busy. I still check my email like 5 times a day!!
I will be sure to post as soon as I know anything...good or bad!! Good luck to us all!!
Hey Jentrbo!
Thanks for posting! It is comforting to know that I am not the only one stressing but I must commend you on your perserverance! You were not discouraged and did not quit. You reapplied and you must have over 27 points! Thats got to be good enough.
Hopefully this time around there are no delays! That means we could probably know as early as Monday of next week. I had read that for Spring they have more applicants than fall because they are taking apps for all three programs. But enrollment was up and it seems everyone I talked to got 10 points for the NLN. I scored 89 so I only get 8 points and I really wanted those 2 extra points.
I thought about exploring some of the expensive programs out there but the cost is beyond unreasonable! I've got my fingers crossed for both of us. I know you're in but Im sure it will be nice to have that letter. You deserve it, you have been patient. I dont know how I will feel if I dont get in. The waiting is the worst part! Please post as soon as you know and I will do the same. Also anyone else out there! :heartbeat
Thanks rrymel!! I looked into Keiser but decided against it due to the cost. I honestly couldn't see paying over 25k for an associate's degree. I have some previous student loan debt and I didn't want to add to it. Only thing is there is more competition at the cc due to the cheaper tuition.
If I don't get in, I'm not sure what I'll do. There's not really anything else I am interested in as a career. I will probably try again for Spring '10. That's a hard pill to swallow but I don't have a choice.
You can always try and retake the NLN but honestly an 89 is a great score. I don't know too many people who scored in the 90's so for sure I think you have a great chance. Only piece of advice I would give to anyone applying is to finish ALL your prereqs before you apply. I tried applying last term but was missing one class which was 3 points!
This waiting is driving me nuts!!!
