PBCC-palm beach comm. college

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.

I read on line that this school works on a point system

I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program

(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO

WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.

Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.

Thanks

That's a pretty smart plan as long as you can swing it. I have no choice but to do the part time program. I work days and there is no way I can find a job working nights that would pay me what I make now. The experience point can definitely make the difference.

I don't think it's possible to work FT and do the program FT, but I'm determined to figure something out. Have you come across anyone else who applied PT and do you know what the points are?

Everyone that I have either spoken to or read posts online has had anywhere from 20 points to 27 points. Not as high as I expected. I know that a few other people that were going to apply either didn't because they did not pass the NLN or applied with less points than they thought because they didn't do as well as they expected. So I seem to be coming across allot of people with points in the 26-27 range, but they seem to be applying mostly to the full time Lake Worth and Belle Glades programs. The suspense is killing me. I am taking Pharmacology this semester and I can't concentrate because of waiting for the acceptance. AHHH!!!

Sounds hopeful. I heard that we will be notified at a minimun of two weeks after app deadline. The application says approximately two weeks, so I keep checking everyday too. Is this the first time you applied? Are you working in the field now?

Yes, this is the first time. I decided in December that I wanted to do this and I made a big push over the Spring and Summer terms and took 27 credit hours in order to have everything done and maximize my points. It was hard but worth not waiting until next year to apply. I am not working in the field now. I am actually a graphic artist working at a woman's clothing company (what a switch huh?)...but I did get my EMT license from PBSC in 2006 and have worked with an ambulance company on and off since just to keep up my hours and my license current. I wanted to go the paramedic route, I really like the emergency medicine aspect of all of this, but I just didn't want to be a firefighter and unfortunately, around here, that is your only option to make a decent living as a paramedic. And a decent living I MUST make...I am 38, married and have 2 kids. Fortunately my wife has been very supportive of my academic decisions, so my home life is not so much an issue when it comes to school.

Sounds like you had a great plan and are determined to get it done. The experience you have is a positive too. My husband is supportive, but his schedule with work is so crazy and demanding and we have a baby so it's definitely tough. That's why I'd much rather do PT. I really hope that the points required are lower for this semester. It seems like Broward is easier to get into also, so maybe more applicants who previously didn't get in tried other routes.

hey everyone,

I applied for the fulltime program at Lake Worth. I went in today to speak to someone in the limited access program because something odd popped up on my degree audit. Anyway, she told me that she sends out denial letters first. She suggested that she would be sending them out sometime late this week or early next week. Acceptance letters will go out sometime around the 20th? I hope this helps some of you. I have 27.9 points and am soo nervous! good luck to everyone!

good luck to you too!!

the 20th.. oh my, I figured though since thats when they heard last year as well.

my tummy is in knots

The 20TH!! AHHHH!! I can't wait anymore. The suspense is killing me. It's crazy I don't even know if I am into the program and I am already researching BSN and MSN options and where else to take the career. I swear I am an information addict. Just keep researching on the web to see what else I can find out about nursing.

HEY guys, I applied in Belle Glade campus with a 21.39 points....yeah yeah yeah...lol I know is too little but i take a chance and see what happen. I'll updated you guys since they send letter of denial first and I'm waiting for mine. There's always next semester, hope I do good in the hessi.
