Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.
I read on line that this school works on a point system
I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program
(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO
WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.
Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.
Thanks
I took the NLN on Saturday...I felt great about the English, OK about the math...but the Science sucked! I had at least 10-15 questions about circuitry and electricity and ohms. What the HELL does that have to do with nursing?? I only had a handful of anatomy questions and the rest were chemistry which is my worst subject. So we will see. I hope I still did well enough to get a decent percentile. I hate the waiting game though. I wish it was comupterized and we got our scores immediately.
I applied for the evening/weekend program and have some unfortunate issues keeping my points down. My GPA is also affected from when I first started college in 93. I have a 2.9 even after getting a Bachelors and Masters degree with almost all A's. I also just found out from an advisor that my previous Humanities courses do not count for the nursing application, so I lost a point which seems ridiculous after already having 3 degrees and my degree audit shows all general ed requirements met. I scored 89th percentile on NLN in March and my mom passed the day before, so that was really hard. Drumroll for my points. Only 26.9. I don't think that will get me in. I think if they counted my Humanities, which I planned on then maybe I'd have a chance. Apparently, last year the lowest score for PT was around 27.9
I applied for Belle Glade with 27.82 points.
I missed out on any Florida residency points, which is a little upsetting, but I think I have enough. Was so excited to get the full 10 on the NLN, makes up for my lacking grades on my previous BA from back in 2003.
Anyone else out there waiting to hear back?
Does anyone know what kind of points we are up against this semester?
Good luck to everyone!!
I have no idea what points we are up agains. I applied to the evening/weekend program at Lake Worth. From what I understand, that is the most competitive, mostly due to the limited number of spots...30 I believe. I received an email yesterday confirming my points, but that is all. I am sitting at 28.97 points, so I hope that will get me in. Hope we hear soon, the suspense is killing me! Good luck to everyone.
Have you checked your degree audit in pantherweb. It should say for term 20112 and then at the top it says "program admit status". Mine says "N", so don't know if everyone's is the same for now or if that is updated....just curious? I'm surprised there aren't more applicants on this site, but you should had a good chance I think with 28 or more points.
If I don't get in now, I'm going to take my humanities class and see if I can work some hours for the experience point and apply for the FT program in June. I don't know how I will do it as I also need a ft income and have a 6 month old baby, but I'll see if I can work something out. If there's a will there's a way and I am not waiting to apply again next year for pt. It's too far away. If I don't get into pt and get into ft in June then I'll finish around the same time I would've in pt program anyway.

Hey everyone. Taking the NLN this Saturday. Last piece to the puzzle. Can't wait. Does anyone know if they provide calculators? I know it says we can't bring one, but is there one provided or do you have to do all your calculations by hand? Thanks. Good luck to anyone taking the NLN this Saturday.
