Pay for hospital nursing assistants thanks!

Can anyone who is a nursing assistant in a hospital please tell me what you make an hour and your area. Thank you. I just want to know what to expect. Waiting to hear back about interview

hi ccm4ever,

I do not work as a CNA (yet), but go ahead and type what you asked in the search bar to your top right. There are many who got answers to this.

Here in CA, I have heard 10-15 per hour. It varies by area/facility (not only by state) though.

I hope your interview went well!

In Oklahoma, I started as a CNA in a hospital with no experience at 9.25/hour. I now have 3 years experience and am cross-trained to work any and every department that uses CNAs and I still earn under 10.00/hour. :(

I work in Southern California. I make 14.50 per hour base pay on a telemetry floor. I make 1.45 extra on weekends. I am not only a CNA though I also have my Tele Tech.... I know the CNA's on the other med surg floors make around 13 per hour.

I hope the pay if it is offered to me is at least $12 or more. Does it matter what floor you work on the pay? I saw an ad for telemetry before but didnt apply. Im afraid if thats what you make in California then the pay probably is lower here in Buffalo,NY. I dont know since I m a medical assistant (new) if that will help me out in any way at all?

Here in California, cost of living is very high so yes, it may be less depending on the cost of living at NY.

MA on your resume certainly does help, if you had experience working as a MA. But still you are more marketable than a candidate with no schooling. However, you have to consider the tough economy and, God Forbid, there might be candidates with CNA experience. Good luck and never get discouraged! You can do it!

Ok so I finally heard from the hospital and they asked me if I wanted this position!? I said yeah...havent got the official letter yet, but was hoping to interview at this one pediatric office still. I have to call the pediatric office (medical assistant position) back tomorrow to see if the office manager got my resume..and hopefully set up an interview soon so I can make a decision soon if the peds office does offer it to me. For the hospital there sending me somewhere May 10th and I have to bring all this stuff, such as my s.s card, shot records, medication bottles, license etc. They do a physical, make you bend, stretch, lift, go on a treadmill, drug test, tb test, etc. they also give you some tax form to fill out at home I think lovely. Did yous have to do all this? Then I go back two days later to go get the tb skin test checked. I was interested in the maternity department they just posted the other day, but I was afraid to mention that to her. I guess the floor from what she said is telemetry/med surg. I thought when I applied it said medical teaching? What will I be doing on a telemetry/med surg. floor? I have to go to an orientation (not at the hospital) May 23rd (think it might last a few days). I asked if I had to come in and talk with anyone at the hospital, and she said since you interviewed with a recruiter..no. I mean she asked if I had any questions and I asked a few, but I still have some and sure I will have a lot more. l might not understand the paper work /benefits package etc. I dont even know when I can start bidding? Its less than what I was expecting...but its not totally bad I guess $11.65 hr. with benefits, but I dont really know how the benefits thing works. Anyone working in a hospital, how much are the raises and how often? Do different floors make more or is it the same? I would really appreciate if you could give me any insight! Thanks! Im just wondering if they just hire anyone (it said ged/high school diploma, or if they really liked me and since I have a degree. I just hope my schooling wasnt a total waste!

I wonder if you can let me know when your hospital is hiring? I really want to work at a hospital, I live in SOCAL as well. But this days is hard to get a job if you don't have connections or know someone in there.

Thank you!

The CNAs where I am employed earn a full-time rate of $11.00 hourly. The PRN rate is $15.00 per hour. I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas.

In NJ for for a hosp in South Jersey I was offered a big 10.48 per hour full time. Wow, to think all the school, buying a uniform, 80.00 for books, 76 for testing all for a big 10.48 per hour.

I thought NJ being a higher cost of living state like CT where I live, would pay a bit more... :uhoh3:

I guess one will have to consider the amount of competition as well. Sigh competition is a depressing word for me sometimes.
