Can anyone who is a nursing assistant in a hospital please tell me what you make an hour and your area. Thank you. I just want to know what to expect. Waiting to hear back about interview

yeah so did i when i was offered the job and said no thanks. I will stay where I am at for 12 and hour per d.

In NJ for for a hosp in South Jersey I was offered a big 10.48 per hour full time. Wow, to think all the school, buying a uniform, 80.00 for books, 76 for testing all for a big 10.48 per hour.

Dont feel bad...I went and have my Associates degree in medical assisiting my college was very expensive about 7,000 semester!!! Was there 3 years..ended up switching majors. This was the first position offered to me. Was hoping for more like $13 hr than $11.65.

I'm in Canada, starting pay for a CNA/HCA in a hospital is just over $17/hr.

I need to live there lol. Dont live from from Canada though. I actually have a degree in Medical Assisting and applied for the na job and the pay is 11.65hr. I wish they would give me more...I went to school for 3 years! Switched majors.

I hear Canada pays very well for nursing. Why is that?

HI! I work as a CNA in a RI, hospital and i love it!!! I work on a med/surg floor with telemetry, and it gets busy sometimes, but the people i work with make it great! I work 3-11. and i started out making 12 and change, then after about 3 months i got a raise to 14 and change. but you have to factor in the shift differential which is like 1.75 and weekends you make an additional 3.50 an hour on top of that. if you work overnights its an even higher pay differential. The telemetry is just the monitor that the patient wears to monitor their heart. and so we can keep track of their beats per minute, PVC's, and make sure they don't go into cardiac arrest on the unit. NOT all patients will be wearing them, only the cardiac patients. It's not a big deal...A Med/Surg floor is an great place to start, because you will see such a variety of patients, with all kind of illnesses. This will be great experience for you down the road..If i were you I would do it!!! Besides, everyone wants to work on the maternity/ L&D.... but you have to be bilingual.. and you really do have to know someone to get in there!! let me know if you have any other questions!! :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

A raise after a few months would be nice, but Im not sure what this hospital does...hope its sooner than yearly. It is a union job. I cant wait to get the stuff in the mail that they are supposed to send soon I hope. Hopefully some of my questions will be answered. Do you work full-time? This is for part time right now 7-3. So I should make like at least an extra dollar a hour on weekends? Not sure when I start..my orientation is May 23rd. Do you get benefits and are they expensive? I heard that the part time benefits can be expensive but now sure how much yet. So do you think I will be doing vitals (manually?) What are some of the other daily tasks you do? Yes I also hope it works out! Thanks for your help.

9.66 with great benefits at the hospital I just got hired at!!

What unit will you be on? I guess Ill be on telemetry/med surg. Is it part time or full time? So you said the benefits are good..can you fill me in a little. Im waiting on some paper work the hospital is supposed to be sending. Hopefully it will answer a lot of my questions. I heard that part time benefits can be expensive though.

Canada has very strong unions and their healthcare facilities are publicly funded.

I am not a cnA I went to school to be a tech. After 7 months of applying and getting no interviews I started applying for anything in a hospital to get a foot in the door. I was offered a nurse aid job in Trenton nj $ 12.02/hr with paid benefits. During orientation which was 1 week of listening to people of every department speak, another week of patient care class there were nurse aids and technicians. I learned that one of the technicians came from housekeeping and the other from escort. I was a little aggravated that I paid $2500 for a tech cert. and they wouldn't hire me but they would hire someone from within the hospital and train them. Oh well at least I have a job! And in 6 months I can transfer to a tech position and I will get paid a higher rate since I had training!

Originally, I was sitter on rehab and made 11.47. I have my CNA and recently got promoted to NCT. My pay is the same for the first 3 months (probationary period) and then I should be making 14.50.
