Just curious. Does your non-union hospital share pay grades for an RN (BSN) and based on experience and MSN or certifications?

We know base pay and where it's capped. Degrees and certifications only come into play for clinical ladder.

Our hospital keeps pay a big, dark secret. There is no "pay scale" per se, they pay you according to who you are kin to, who you know, whether they like you, etc. Sad. They have brand new nurses making more money than their faithful staff who have been there for years. That said, this is one of those right to work states and no unions.

No pay difference for ADN vs BSN or MSN here ( if said MSN is working the floor but if in management they get much more ). A new nurse who knows the right people can climb the "ladder" faster than a MSN with experience. If you are a regular nurse we get advanced in pay at our evaluations every other year. But, we have great benefits that are way above any other hospitals in this area and a family like atmosphere among the staff.

The last non-union facility for which I worked, pay rate was published as one of their policies, so it was transparent. It was a percentage of base pay, depending upon how many years in a like position you had.
As someone else mentioned, certifications and higher degrees were not factored into pay rate, but were part of the clinical ladder, which nurses could voluntarily participate in to get higher pay.
