Pay in Dallas area????

Published

Hi

I passed my nclex-pn in florida and have recently moved to Dallas.

I have no nursing experience.

i am going start looking for an lvn job and i need some info like :

1) How much pay can i expect with and without the shift diff etc in an acute facility as well as in a long term care facility???

2) which are the best hospitals/nursing homes in the dallas area hiring lvns?

I am currently residing in Mesquite.

Advice and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

LVN in a long term care facility = $17 to $22 hourly

LVN in a DFW hospital = $12.50 to $16 to start

I worked at a doctors office last year and made $14.50/hour. I do home health now and make $20/hour.

I work in home health... in collin county as a home health nurse, I make 30.00 per visit with no pay for miles. I get 40+ visits a week. I have worked in Home health and Hospice and made 26.00 per hour with 46 cents per mile. Also 22.00 in Ltc. I discovered that in this area lvn are not employeed by hospitals.

Keep in mind that the poster is an LVN. If he/she was an RN, this person would be underpaid. However, those pay rates sound about average for LVNs in the DFW area.

That still seems like underpay.

The VA hires LVNs, but not sure of the payrate.

UTSW has/had an opening for a Senior LVN....whatever that is.

Of course, that may be too far to drive from Collin Co.

what is the typical pay rate for an RN doing home health in the dallas area? where can i find a p/t job (hourly or per visit)? any referrals would help.

I work for Texas Health Resources. We have hospitals all over DFW. Check out the website. Texas Health Resources is a great system to work for. I graduated May 2007. A new graduate nurse will start off making 21.50 and will get at least a $1 raise every 6 months for 5 years, to bring them up to the same pay an RN would get with that much experience. This is to keep the new RN from wanting to take a job offer from another hospital. Sometimes you get more than $1 raise. I started off making $19.50. About a year after I graduated the pay for a graduate nurse went up to $21.50. I at the time was about to recieve a raise that would take me to that same pay. To make up for the fact starting pay went up the gave me an additional $2 so that brought me to $23.50 with just one year of experience. I am sure they have very competitive pay for nurses with prior experience- Check them out!!! If you do decide to go with them put me down as a referral. It iwll help me out- I will get a little bonus :). Hope this information helps

How aggressive can a new graduate RN be when looking for starting pay.

I would like my wife to start out around $28 to $32 per hour in D/FW area.

If she's a new RN with no experience, there's virtually no hospitals in the DFW area that will pay that kind of money to a new grad unless she works night shift or decides to work at a LTAC hospital such as Kindred, Lifecare, or Healthsouth.

The regular acute care hospitals in the DFW area are paying new grad RNs between $21.50 and $23 per hour. Some specialty hospitals, such as Cooks Childrens, pay $25.
