Thoughts on this? I feel like this is an EXTREMELY odd request and I've gotten several. Not because I think it's INAPPROPRIATE per se, but it's just seems off. Thoughts?

I wouldn't do it in a million years. No. Nope. Not a chance.
I wouldn't accept a job where my job description included sleeping with the pt/client/resident.

Oh, clients quite often play the "other nurses do it" card. That is a dead giveaway that they are not the kind of people that you can turn your back to, about anything.

I go to the agency office on Monday to drop something off. I am going to run this all by them then and see what they say...I will pop back here and update you all. I just don't want them to call the family and say, "Nurse X said you asked her to lay in bed with Patient Y."

Adele, what is Mom's rationale for this request? I have to think there's a clinical purpose. No parent is going to expose their child to possible endangerment out of the blue.

Uh, yeah, no... I agree that's no good. Vertical hugs and cuddles are for parents only. Maybe you can offer a hand massage w nice-smelling lotion, or brushing the ct's hair?
