Patient care job question?

So the problem is I want to get a job working in the hospital as a pct or cna.I met with my advisor last week it will not be until after a year before i apply for the nursing program. It would be a good idea to get my one year experience in.But the problem is that I feel like I cannot know for sure that it will be a waste of time or money. I just really need some advice I just seem to be feeling a bit discouraged and confused on this matter. Thanks.

Are you asking if a PCT job will be a waste of time and money (not sure I understand the latter particularly) or if going to nursing school will be this waste? Can't help you if unsure what you're asking.

I think working as a pct/cna would be helpful because you will get to connect with the patients...I don't think it would be a waste of time especially if you need the yr experience or it would be helpful when you actually enter into the nursing program...also it will depend on the facility you're working in, as you're grunting and groaning about how hard cna work actually is it would help to give you that push to continue with your nursing program....when I was cna i hated it....the only thing i loved about cna work is knowing i was helping the patients but its tough grueling work...Now im an lpn and cant wait to start nursing school...good luck to you...
