real world survival guide for patho is also good. NCLEX study books can be good.

a good anatomy and physiology book is an absolute must along with a fluid and electrolyte reference of some sort. you have to understand where the anatomy and/or physiology has gone wrong in order to understand the disease processes. i keep a nursing pathophysiology book at home as a reference. it is quite extensive with nearly 1700 pages. pathophysiology: the biologic basis for disease in adults and children, 3rd edition, by katherine l. mccance and sue e. huether. for added fun you should have some medical school websites for reference as well. during the spring break would be a good time to check them out on the web. i would go into the websites of various medical schools and then do a search for one or two specific diseases to see what comes up. not all, but some schools or professors have put information on websites to help students out and you want to find those gems. here are some other sites with pathophysiology links you might want to check out.

Pathophysiology: The Biologic Basis for Disease in Adults and Children, 3rd edition, by Katherine L. McCance and Sue E. Huether. Both Sue and Katherine were my teachers for Patho. Very good and thorough book, I might add!

I teach pathophysiology at both the graduate and undergraduate level. McCance and Heuther is a great book. I frequently recommend the Prentice-Hall book, Pathophysiology, Reviews and Rationales (Hogan, 2004) to my students. It is an excellent supplemental study aid. Each unit, organized in an outline, bullet format includes a pre and post test with rationales. Content likely to be included on the NCLEX is flagged as well. Students seem to find it helpful.
(I teach in a University, and have no relationship with the author, publisher, etc!) :wink2:
