80 or above is passing!

Is this a pretty common thing now for most Nursing Programs for the minimum average to be a "B"? I wasn't expecting that. I just went to my orientation last night and I start on Monday. I was already stressing about my grades but now I'm really stressed about having very little room for error. I understand that in the real world we are expect to be right 100% of the time but this is school and we are learning completely new material so I just don't see why it can't be at least a C at 70%. I guess I'll have to make sure to study that much harder. Anyway I just wanted to see what other students are growing through. What's your minimum requirement for passing?

At the school I'm applying to 77 is passing. Most nursing programs upper 70s-80 is considered passing.

Nursing school is tough, but they do it for a reason. When you graduate you will have peoples lives in your hand. There is little room for error. They are just preparing you for that.

Our school had a passing threshold of 77 as well.

Our lowest passing grade was 80 as well. It was considered a "C!" Don't psych yourself out, it can be done! Good luck!

Wow.. I feel for you all! I'm lucky to say that our passing is 70!

UND passing is 74%, which is a C

Higher passing standards in nursing programs are to ensure that students learn what they need to know in order to pass NCLEX on the first attempt.

My LVN program's minimum passing standard was 78 percent. My LPN-to-RN (ASN) degree program's minimum passing standard was 77 percent.

Mine is 75. And I thought that was stressfull!

Mine was 77%. It wasn't often that students didn't make the bar on exams in my cohort. I don't think anyone failed out due to grades on exams. If they were asked to leave, it was because of performance in clinicals.

There were several students in my cohort who failed a semester and had to repeat because of their average in class.

75 for my program, a lot of students that started with me are having to repeat a course because they got 74.9 or less. I'm going into the second semester in a couple of weeks.

In my school anything below 81 was failing.
