Passed The Psb!! Upmc Shadyside

Published

I have been freaking out for the past two months studying for the PSB. I took it on 8/29/08 for admittance to UPMC Shadyside. Well I just got my results back.....99 percentile for verbal, 99 for math, 99 for reading comp, and 98 for natural sciences!!!!:loveya:I'm shocked!!! I started hardly knowing anything about natural sciences!!! I've been out of school for a while. I'm really ecstatic. If anyone has any questions about the test, I'd be happy to answer them. Also, with my test results, are my chances pretty high for getting into Shadyside? Thanks!

You'll be fine on the test tomorrow. Just make sure you take your time and double check the scantron sheet. You don't want to make a mistake on the bubbling in. Eat a good breakfast with some carbs and keep an eye on the time. 30 minutes goes by fast and you don't want to spend too much time on one question. Good luck, you'll do great!

Thanks for all the support! I just feel like I'm scratching the surface with all this info and not really prepared. I'm a horrible test taker too! =/

Can't be negative now I'm gonna tackle this test and hopefully I'll be sitting in class with all of you!

OK I just got home from taking the PSB! WOW I must say I don't know how I feel. I feel I did OK and then on the other hand I'm like I think I bombed it. The first section the fractions got me and I think some of the vocabulary words where a little too advance for me but overall I think I did OK on that section. The reading comprehension was fine no problems even though I almost didn't finish. Great advice on not reading it that helped me tremendously. The last section I felt 20 questions in I was good to go and then all of a sudden I felt real stupid....HAHA!

So tonight I'm going to drink some cold Iron's and pray I passed.

Thanks for all the support!

Hi am schedule to take the psb on Dec 4, I am soo nervous about the math part and the analytical reasoning what is the test really like.

There is a vocab section, a reading comprehension section, a math section, and a science section. They don't make you do the analytical reasoning. The test isn't all that bad. If you study for it, you will do fine. Good luck! Shadyside is a great school!

thanks, what about the judgment and comprehension of practical nursing? were there any ?'s like that and how were they?

There were no nursing questions on the test. It is just an assessment of your basic knowledge.......the science is the hardest part. Get the books that they recommend and study them. You can get them on Amazon for a pretty reasonable price.

oh because the sheet i got says that there is vocational questions and the judgement and comprehension of practical nursing. i have heard that there are two different versions of the test like a 2.0 and 3.0. i did order the arco book and the barron's book. i was totally confused on which one to get because neither had really great reviews. more in between. it seemed liked everyone said that arco will have you over prepared but i would rather be over prepared than under. i am really nervous just want to do outstanding the first time and relax ya know!!!!!!!:redbeathe

A couple of years ago I took the test twice at different schools. The entire test had 5 parts but Shadyside didn't use the entire exam. Just 2 parts and most of a third part. One of the parts they didn't give was billed as a nursing aptitude test. Maybe that's what the brochure refers to.

maybe that is what it is becuz i am not going to shadyside i am in illnois. i t does have 5 parts that the test is broken down into and it has most of what everyone is talking about, but i dont hear any one speak of the judgement or vocational part. so can u tell me what type of ?'s i should prepare for or where to study!!! thanks alot though i though i was going crazy i was going to stop thinking about i t as if it werent on the test. silly me....

Well that makes alot more sense.......I think everyone else on this thread hopes to go to Shadyside. I'm sorry but I can't tell you about the questions you are unsure of as they were not on my test. Good luck trying to find out........you will do fine!

Don't worry, that's exactly how I felt after I took the test. I couldn't really gauge how I did. And I ended up doing great so I'm sure you did too. Keep us posted with your results.
