Passed NCLEX in 75 Questions - Used Kaplan Only

Published

Hello! All throughout nursing school and while studying for the NCLEX I scoured through hours of posts on this website for information from others. I told myself that once I passed the NCLEX I would post my Kaplan scores and what I did to pass the NCLEX. Well, that day is today - I took the exam this morning and passed with 75 questions in under an hour! I did the PVT multiple times throughout the day then this evening my RN license number posted on my BON website - it only took me 6 hours to discover I passed. :)

Anyway, here are my Kaplan scores! I used Kaplan only to study for NCLEX and I only studied for about a week.

Diagnostic: 53.9%

Question Trainer 1: 62.7%

Question Trainer 2: 57.3%

Question Trainer 3: 59.0%

Question Trainer 4: did not do

Question Trainer 5: did not do

Question Trainer 6: 58.0%

Question Trainer 7: 54.0%

NCLEX Sample 1: 42.0%

NCLEX Sample 2: 58.0%

NCLEX Sample 3: 83.3%

NCLEX Sample 4: 30.6%

Q Bank Average: 60.0% (They started out in the 40s and I was scoring in the 70s the day before the exam)

Readiness: 63.3%

All the threads I have read on this site has said a 65% minimum is needed on Kaplan. My instructor told our class that a 54% is efficient enough to pass. As you can see from my scores I was definitely not above a 65 and I passed with 75 questions in just 45 minutes with just a week of studying. I am telling you this because I was so close to changing my test date because I thought my scores were way too low to test from what I read on this site - but they weren't! Just make sure to read all the rationales and understand why you are missing certain questions and you should be just fine for NCLEX. Passing nursing school is the hardest part! What really helped ease my nerves on test day was to keep telling myself that the current first time US BSN test taker pass rate is 90%. Your chances of passing are high! I'm not saying don't blow off the NCLEX - it is a HARD test - just don't get discouraged from all the "I failed" posts... remind yourself that people who fail come here for advice... people who pass don't, so you don't see as many positive posts. :)

Good luck to anyone waiting to take their NCLEX or waiting for results! I was a nervous wreck for the past week while studying and especially all day today while waiting for my results. I am ecstatic to now call myself a RN! All the nerves were worth it. Kinda. ;)

Congratulations!

Thanks for posting! I am retaking tomorrow and i have been using kaplan. My qbank score is 60% and kaplan said 60s was where you wanted to be! So i am keeping my fingers crossed!

Congratulations! I'm also using Kaplan to prepare for my upcoming boards. Did you do anything specific when it came to reviewing rationales? I try and take notes after each practice test but find myself overwhelmed with all the information at times.

Congrats on a job well done.

Congrats ! I'm so proud of you girlie ! I have one more semester to go in my BSN program. I am going to buy kapan this fall and study for about 1 hour a week until time draws closer. Then I will bump it up to 5 hours a week etc. I do not want to overthink it. I feel that is where many people go wrong. Is there a specific website where I can buy it? I'm only using Kaplan as well.

I'm not sure where to purchase Kaplan. It was a required course through my nursing school during our last quarter!
