NCLEX: white boards and breaks
I took mine in California so maybe there are differences maybe not 1) You get 1 whiteboard but i consider it more of a laminated piece of paper lol. Its a little bigger than the normal 8x11 paper and there was only really 1 side you could write on because the opposite side had the rules (raise your hand if you need to use the restroom etc etc) 2) Not sure what your testing facility is like but for us they put all the test takers in one room if you need to take a break for any reason you raise your hand leave the testing room and you can eat your snack, go to your locker and use the bathroom outside of the room.

Passed NCLEX in 75 Questions - Used Kaplan Only
Congratulations! I'm also using Kaplan to prepare for my upcoming boards. Did you do anything specific when it came to reviewing rationales? I try and take notes after each practice test but find myself overwhelmed with all the information at times.

Studying after not passing
I was considering enrolling in that because I did hear it had a good balance of content review as well as questions and for a good price! How did u break down your study time if you don't mind me asking? I've seen people who use NCSBN review content videos and then do questions over and over

Studying after not passing
Hi everyone I took the NCLEX about two weeks ago and unfortunately did not pass. I don't think the feeling of failure will go away until I pass this exam but I took these last 2 weeks to "mourn" just take a break and get my mind right before starting back up again. I took Kaplan when preparing my first time around and my instructor stressed "NOT TO STUDY CONTENT" even though I felt like my content was weak. After each Kaplan practice test I would take notes on each question (regardless of right/wrong) and try and understand completely why it was/wasn't the right answer and if I felt like the rationales didn't provide enough "need to know" information I would look it up on Saunders or another resource. (This took so long and was against what my kaplan instructor told me but it was the only way I could review content while knocking out questions) When i was taking my NCLEX I had hard questions but I felt like I got a lot of line or below the line questions especially towards the end. Now I'm here ready to start studying again but I have no idea where to start. Pharm, reduction of risk, and basic care were some of my lowest scores but I really wanted to get people's advice on how they started studying again after not passing the previous time. CONTENT is definitely something I'm spending A LOT of time on this time around I even enrolled in a NCLEX content class which I plan on completing before I start doing questions again. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!

I passed!75 questions. After falling my first attempt at 75!
Congrats on passing! I'm really glad I ran into this post..... i feel like your experience with the NCLEX was similar to mine when I took it the firs time! (Stopped at 75 as well, and did not pass) and i agree about what you said needing more than just test strategies to pass this exam! Your post has encouraged me and made me optimistic for when I take it the 2nd time. Thank you God Bless and Congrats again!

Kaplan Content Videos
I didn't take Kaplan on Demand i took the actual class but it works pretty similar for the most part. The videos I found most helpful were the ones where they go over all the questions. It helps you learn how to use the decision tree as well as to be in the right state of mind to critically think. The content videos were super long and boring I tried really hard to stay focused and get the info down but it's easier said than done. I thought reading the saunders book was better for content. The kaplan book is good too but I'm not a fan of ebooks and didn't wanna pay the extra money for the physical book.

Studying Kaplan
As far as I know there's only 1 kind of class if you are taking the NCLEX it really just depends on which parts of it you want to buy. Some people found it helpful just to buy the Qbanks so they can take a bunch of questions to study. I personally bought the whole package where you go to a class for 4 days (I chose to go to an actual class even if it meant driving 45 minutes but there is an online option) the full package gives you a content review ebook, practice questions guided by an instructor, and thousands of questions. I have not taken my NCLEX yet so I can't say if it did/didn't help me but they do have a pass or get your money back policy.

Studying Kaplan
Thank you for sharing! Thats a great way of organizing your notes (by system) I wish I thought of that sooner. And yes I'm a few weeks away so I'm logged off all my social media so if I do get tempted I have to re-type my password haha

Studying Kaplan
Thank you so much for the tips/advice! How did you go about studying your rationales if you don't mind me asking? Did u write them in a notebook or just quickly read over the rationale and move on? I thought putting it in a notebook was helping me but it just takes me that much longer to go over the exams Goodluck on your exam I did see your post and I'm sure if u keep it up you'll pass no problem!

Studying Kaplan
Thanks for the reply! My mistake I should have opened all the tabs I did end up finding the recommended study plan. I also find it helpful but when I look back thru my notebook its just pages and pages of scattered information and it can be overwhelming at times. But I guess it is a little bit more effective than just going back and reading random content

Studying Kaplan
Hi everyone I recently took the Kaplan review course and my goal is to complete all the Qbanks and trainers prior to taking the exam. I'm sure somebody has posted about this before but I'm curious to know out of the trainers (1-7) QBank, and Qbank samples were the most helpful? I have heard that trainers 1-3 were content (below the line) type questions. But haven't heard as much for the others. And also for those of you who took Kaplan how did you go about studying rationales? I have a notebook that I take notes of rationales especially on the questions I get wrong. My kaplan instructor told me it was a waste of time but I always worry the topic will come up again and if it does that i'll get it wrong again. I know that i'll never know everything and kaplan is all about using strategies to find the answer even when you don't completely know everything about the topic. My exam is in 3 weeks and I would really appreciate any tips/advice you guys can offer. Thanks and God Bless :)
