Pasadena City College RN program

Published

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

No, i think you can have a B in one of the sciences, but other than that its just luck of the draw. I haven't heard anything yet either.

so the alternates have received emails?

i feel uneasy about only getting a call. somehow it doesn't seem official to me and i'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. hope we get an email or letter soon.

the guy who called me asked if i had taken the teas, so that makes me wonder if they're still selecting the final candidates after they have the exam.

My friend has all A and she is only an alternate..

I have all "A"s and no luck in lottery. Life is unfair :-)

To be honest, I don't think that playing a lottery is right ..especially in medicine.

It should be volunteering, work experience, teas results..but not just a random chance.

Jules23, I was asked to submit my TEAS score. Have you taken the test? Did they ask you about it?

The guy I spoke to didn't sound like he was up on all the info since he was trying to fill in for the person in charge. And he had to call me back a few times cos he forgot to tell me/ask something. I didn't feel confident that I got all the info I needed.

Don't get discouraged. I applied to six schools and counted Pasadena out, but then I received the call. Your time will come :) Good luck!!Question: Do any of you know if I can go through my doctor to get my blood work and physical done?

I would say yes, your physician should be able to do physical/order labs.

Willowita- Yes, I took the TEAS already. I'm going to submit that before the end of the week. Is it safe to assume that we'll get our info packet in the next few weeks since some people still need to take the TEAS? The waiting game once again. . .

He told me not to send the teas yet but I feel like I should anyway.

He basically said to wait for an email with instructions on how to submit those results. I told him I knew how to do it, and he said to go ahead and send it directly through ATI. HOPE THIS HELPS.:-)

I got a rejection email today! I got into Glendale'c RN program but I guess it would have been nice to have been chosen for PCC as well (ego, maybe?). Congrats to all you guys I hope you all do great maybe we'll bump into eachother at clinicals!

atarkehin,

That's odd, that they would tell you not to send your scores. When I asked him if I should submit my TEAS score, he put me on hold to check with someone. Then he told me to go ahead and send them.

Also, sounds like alternates and those declined received emails. But those admitted have not?

hmmmm.. im not sure, they seem a little disorganized, but i sent them anyway. he put me on hold and came back to say that we will receive info on all of it! so im not sure really.
