Hi,
I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.
Any opinions?
Thanks!
Hey there susaaan! Well to answer your question, yes you need an CA issued RN license to begin the program at CSUN. I believe they only have a RN to BSN option. That would mean you get accepted into a ADN program. After you get accepted you pass your classes and graduate. Take the NCLEX and pass and get your RN license. Then you apply to CSUN, aftewards you apply to CSUN's RN to BSN program.Good Luck
Not necessarily. CSUN also has an Accelerated BSN program for anyone who already has a bachelors degree. I believe it takes 15 months.
I know. That was what I was going that mention before but she asked about licensing and since she stated she's a freshman, she obviously doesn't have a bachelors degree.Good point :)
Just saying she also has the option to continue her bachelors at CSUN say in Psych or something else and then apply for the accelerated program :)
No I know LOL. As I said good point. You apply to PPC?
Yes I did. I applied to LA County, PCC, GCC and Valley. I already got accepted to Valley. I only applied to County because its my dream school and you get an extra point if you apply for one cohort and qualify then apply for the next. I did not take speech or history till this fall so I was missing a good six points and only had an 80 when I applied.
At this point I am accepting Valley's offer. I have a 5 year old who goes to school in Woodland Hills and I live in Northridge. Valley told me that they have a county hospital that they do clinicals from so that gets me some of the experience that is so prized about County in a program that is more close to home.
BETTER BE THE BEGINNING!
I am not thinking I am going to get in...I dont know, they are taking forever and I am thinking they got WAAAY more applicants then they thought! That means my chances are practically zero...oh well I am really hoping on CSULA now since I finally got a CNA job in a hospital! I am so excited! Now all I am waiting on is HR to hurry up so I can get started. Have you checked out CSULA's program? I honestly think you have a good chance to get in so hurry and apply to the school at CSUmentor.edu/com
Anywho...you have been busy with school? Me too....just had a chem test and got back my stats test with a 93! (its a low A but a lot of people barely got Cs)
you work on Thanksgiving? I hope I start working really soon. I have to go buys some scrubs....
