Pasadena City College LVN program 2018

Published

Hi all! I wanted to start this thread to see who has applied or will apply to the LVN program at PCC for fall of 2018. I already submitted my application and if anyone has tried in the past or is already in the program please feel free to offer advice! Thank you! GOOD LUCK!

I was thinking of buying that one as well as the dosage calculations book because I feel that we will need that forever..

The LVN kit comes with needles, PPE, catheters, and things of that sort. It was delivered to my house today...

The only thing that i have bought as far as school supl is the basics like pens, highlighters, note books and etc.

I already have a stethoscope and automatic vital sign monitors for practice and things of that nature of which I use for work as a CNA

okay so it looks like we still need to buy a stethescope, BP cuff, penlight, stuff like that. I love that they didnt tell us about that, the whole time I just assumed that was included in the Kit.

I just sent an email to the school about the white scrubs. Hopefully, they are okay with letting us buy it from a place where they are sold cheaper. I just don't understand why we have to wear 2 different scrubs one for class and one for lecture. They should just have one color for everything, its a lot of money to spend in less than a month hopefullly they take that in consideration.

Did anyone get information on the ATI BOOKS?

No nothing on the ATI, from the email.

I agree, I was just able to buy one, on top of everything else we have to purchase plus books. Haven't ordered those yet.

Yes, and I dont know if you guys have seen the price on the Ati books, the email that we got today said $800. I hope i read that wrong. And the docucare?

idk why they dont just have a real orientation for us and give us all the information so we can ask all our question. I hate that they keep adding stuff for us to buy.

Sorry guys, Im just a little stressed out will the short amount of time we have to purchase everything and how much its going to cost.

Yes, that pricing really stressed me out especially because we have to pay for it in such a short period of time.

Definitely stressing , does anyone know the purpose of the docucare? Has anyone decided if they are getting the 6 month or 12 month deal? Everything is just so expensive. Also for books any good used textbook websites you may know of ? Thanks

I looked it up online and it seems to be like paitent senerios. Im getting the 6 month deal.

For the book I just rented them through amazon prime, the were each around $20-$25 to rent for the whole semester. I figured even if I need the them again for the next semester i will still be cheaper to rerent them. The only books I did not get was the one thats the student workbook because even though it was listed on the school bookstore it wasnt on the list they emailed us. Also the drug guide I have and older version so Im going to use that for now.

So I finally got an email back about the scrubs for clinical, the DOVE apparel ones.

They said it is mandatory that we get those through the Dove apparel website and if their is any issues with purchasing them their is a counselor by the name of Ms. Quintanar ([email protected]) that helps students out with that. I think she has some scrubs that they have at a more affordable price. I don't know if they are donated or previously used but yea that's the info I got if anyone is still needing the help.
