Parkland Dallas, TX Nurse Residency Spring 2018

Published

Have been looking around in search that there might have been a thread started for the current application period for Parkland Hospital Dallas, Tx Nurse Residency for Dec 2017 grads, but have not seen one so decided to start this one. Is there anyone else out there that is applying to their program im interested in ICU and ED. I have always admired the willingness of the hospital staff when it comes to educating students and new hires, not to mention all the excellent experience that can be gained in this hospital. I am currently an LVN going into the last semester of transition graduating Dec 2017 (Thank you Lord), and have found a love with the ICU and the way it pushes me to think, adapt, and evaluate situations of the human body. So who out there is ready to get this thing going and be the best nurse possible??

Bluecat22, I interviewed for the ER residency back in November and will be starting the program next month. I noticed that they kept posting the ER residency position and taking it down....then a week later it would be reposted. Not sure what's up with that, but you will just have to keep checking back. You can also sign up on the Parkland website to receive notifications about new positions that were recently posted and you can add tag words to the search like "nurse residency" to narrow down the list of job postings that you get in your email. I found all of the postings just by googling parkland nurse residency. They just got done hiring the December grads so it may be a couple of months before they start posting positions for the May grads.

Has anyone accepted a general surgery GN position at Parkland for 2018?

Did those that got hired take dosage calculation before or after ou were hired?

I took it after I was extended a job offer.

Yep, I took the drug calculation exam after accepting my offer!

Did you receive the dosage exam before accepting offer and just wait to take it until after the offer or was it sent to you after your interview at same time as other info about your offer?

I received the link to the medication exam after I received the email offer. I don't think I received the email about logging in and officially accepting the offer yet, but the recruiter definitely emailed me and extended the offer before she sent me the link to the exam.

Interesting. I am going to follow up on my interview tomorrow. I received the link for test but have not had an offer yet and thought that was odd. Hopefully an offer will come but I will check with recruiter tomorrow.

Thanks for the info.

I received the offer and verbally accepted it. Then the recruiter sent out some paperwork to fill out and the dosage calculation test about 2 weeks after i verbally accepted. I did all of that. Then about 2 weeks after I took the test and turned the paperwork in, I received the official offer that I had to go online in the portal to accept.

Did you find anything out?

I got a job offer for different position. (not a residency) which I accpeted and currently in process of getting hired.

I have took all the exams, went to occupational health and everything. My orientation is next Monday which I have exactly a week left before but no other information yet about the orientation.

I asked my recruiter if my orientation is still scheduled to be on Monday and spoke with my recruiter to see if I am still scheduled to start on 19th.

My recruiter says we are on track but just gotta make sure to be cleared by OH before orientation (therefore, I followed up with OH already)

So I told my recruiter that and I will be waiting for information about orientation.

I'm a bit surprised that I have orientation next week and still haven't received any schedules or other information about orientation.

As my previous hospital I worked, I received about orientation infos at least a week before.

Is there anyone who got a job at parkland? If so, when did they give you rest of the information about the orientation? All I know is the date so far. haha.

Maybe I'm just being anxious but I'm just so excited to start my new job at Parkland! Thank you

Jordanku89,

what unit did you get into? Were you contacted about an interview soon after filling out application or did it take awhile to get an interview?
