Parent with Borderline Personality Disorder

Nightmare. Not much else to say. Anyone who has dealt with this diagnosis knows what I am talking about. Her kid has a chronic illness. Mom has been splitting staff, splitting outside medical providers, has now gone to the Superintendent and we all have to sit down with her Thursday- she has somehow managed to convener the 20 busiest staff in the district to all come listen to her. Lord help us all.

We must have the same mom!

Haha, I wouldn't be surprised. I found out she showed up unannounced at one of our district schools, pretending to be "new" to the district and met with the school nurse about her child's health condition to get a sense of care there vs. his current school. The poor nurse had no idea and called me asking for resources for this "new student who is coming to her school" and I almost lost my mind. I mean seriously, woman is off her rocker.

Woah! Something similar to this happened last year when a student was at an elementary school in my district. Mom fought to get a 504 that the nurse felt was unnecessary but mom won because she kept going up the chain of command. I talked to that nurse and she's explained it exactly how you’re describing. Fast forward a year later, he's at my middle school and I'm the first one to realize that his condition hasn’t been followed by a doctor for almost 10 months. I've asked mom about this and she stopped communicating with me. The dean and social worker are involved and she's refusing to give us any updated medical documentation. She's also said she refuses to attend the 504 meeting we scheduled next week. Meanwhile, this poor kid has only been here 2 days since winter break. It's really sad that the kids are the ones who suffer. I’m a brand new school nurse and I don’t know what else I could do.

Yikes. I’m not a school nurse, just wanted to offer my sympathy. I CANNOT stand dealing with BPD folks. I dealt with so many of them at my previous job and it was a nightmare. Hopefully they end up transferring somewhere else!

I feel you. Not a school nurse but we have a whooper of a BPD pt at the moment. Her skills are so impressive that one doctor got fired for misconduct. They believed everything she told them and the extreme escalation of treatment against the advice of the ethics committee, DMS and CEO they are gone.

YUP! She cancelled the meeting last Thursday that everyone had made time for and said her kid had a "Very important doctor's appointment". Called us an hour ago screaming asking why no one has contacted her to reschedule the meeting?! SHE is the one who called the meeting and cancelled. Oh, and her unimmunized kid has been out for 7 days with H. flu
