Hi there everybody. Anybody got some good links for FREE software apps for palm pilots? I found a couple of sites (the palm home site and another one, but I want to find more free stuff and quit wading through the 9 million programs they have that cost $50 or more).

Thanks everybody!!

I saw some not to long ago on the AOL message board. I'll look for them and get back to you.

I just downloaded 4.0student. It is the free trail version, but I think I am going to buy it. It keeps up with all of your homework test, grades and gpa. I would also like to know of some good nursing programs.

What is the best thing about a palm pilot? I don't know much about them.

Thanks,

Marie

Marie,

Here's a good article on Nurse.net about PDA's - what they are, how to select one, what you can do with them in nursing, software you can use, etc.:

Try:

zdnet.com/downloads/pilotsoftware/

I haven't checked it all out yet, but my husband says there are a lot of freebies, including student grade trackers.

I downloaded that 4.0student too. It does look pretty interesting. I'm going to check out the links that have been posted so far. Thanks for the replies, and I hope you all can think of some more.

Be blessed!

I use my palm for everything :)

I have 4.0student as well, and it really helps keep me organized. I also have E-pocrates (#1 PDA drug guide) , an ABG decoder, and O2 Tank calculator, along with the rest of my brain-run-over.

Remember though that a PDA is like a pricey stethoscope, never let anyone borrow it without getting their right shoe as colateral! They walk off quickly.

I would like to get one, but have no idea what to look for. Brandy~ what type do you have? Cause I would like to have one that I can download nursing and student things I may need onto...

Don't really need one to display names and addresses...have all I need to know in my head as far as that goes!

Julie, I know you didn't ask me, but I have a Palm V. If you can find one, you can get it cheap since they're bringing in the new models. My husband works with software engineers and marketing people and they all swear by that particular model.

But any brand that has Palm OS (operating system) can operate all the Palm software. Handspring is one, I think. You'll probably need at least 8MB of RAM. Expandables tend to be more expensive, and so far, 8MB is plenty. I have Epocrates, too, along with some WW stuff and a GPS map software and haven't even come close to half the space.

I wouldn't bother with color. You'll be changing batteries constantly.

I'm going to check out that 4.) student.
