Pace ABSN Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey! Is anyone else applying to Pace's Spring 2016 accelerated program in Pleasantville? I figured I'd start a thread for everyone applying.

I'm finishing up my last 2 prereqs this summer.

Good luck! :)

@haw5071 CONGRATS! Mail or email? What a great way to start the weekend! woot woot!

I recieved mine in the mail about a week after my status changed on the portal to decision made!

My interview seemed to go well today but I'm not sure I'm interested in the program anymore. I don't like the idea of the random clinical placement-- I don't want to have to drive to staten island for clinical one day and Connecticut or NJ the next. Forget about the double long trip to pick patients out before hand. Really bummed they don't even attempt to place you in your general area if that is what you need.

samkasper1 did they say that during the interview? I did not know that... the welcome email just states that clinical days could be on monday, thursday, friday, or saturday (2 days per student). Lecture is wed and thurs. Did they say if we find out in the beginning of the week where we have to go? or do we get a schedule the first week for the whole semester?

Yes the program director said because they have locations all over the tri-state area we will be placed any where randomly not based on where we live. So, we could be in Manhattan, any of the 5 boroughs, pleasantville, upstate, CT, NJ, etc. She clarified very carefully we could have a 3-11p clinical in SI Tuesday and have to be to class at 8am in Pleasantville Wednesday. Also, semester 1 we have two clinical days 10 weeks for fundamentals tuesdays and a short psych clinic rotation Monday or Friday. So you could be in a psych clinical Monday at NYP Columbia, at fundamentals clinical Tuesday at Westchester hospital, then on campus wed. I don't mind driving over an hr but SI is easily 2hrs for me from with traffic. Also 2nd semester is summer so its short and intesive and we have THREE clinical days PLUS an added patho component during one rotation. I cant inagune clinicals at 3 different places with long commutes during a short stressful semester. The only time we get to pick is third semester, fall, we get to pick our specialty OR location but NOT both. So I could pick OB/gyn but end up driving all the way to SI 3+ times a week. Or pick a closer hospital like white plains but end up in urology or some place I have no interest in. Clinicals don't start first semester until 5 weeks in. But secondand third semester we start more quickly. They said if accepted Wed get a run down at orientation Dec 15-16.

wow that is a lot... thanks for all the information. so if you plan on going to Pace, you would live home? That stinks they do not put you based on where you live because that would be very convenient and would put less stress on us... I wish someone in the program now could shed some light on this!!!

Yes, I'm married with two kids I don't have a choice but to come home every night hahahahahaha

hahahah ohh yeah !!! I am not sure what I am going to do with living...

haw5071, do you know where you are going to live?

PL22593 - Thank you for that! Let's see what happens.. I still have hope!

Hi.,

I did not interview a week ago and I am just so stressed because I dont know when I will receive a decision. Some applicants are receiving acceptance letters weeks after their interview and some applicants are receiving emails days later after their interview . The two instructors that I interviewed with stated it will take a few days but when I called admissions two days ago, they stated it would take weeks.....dont know what to believe....I am just so worried and hope I can get in the program.

They told us during the interview it took them awhile to start deciding but then they were sending them quickly so it explained the lag BUT she said now graduate admissions is busy accepting for all programs so expect it to be 10 business days. She said it be an email first then and then a follow-up letter in the mail with more info.
