Hey! Is anyone else applying to Pace's Spring 2016 accelerated program in Pleasantville? I figured I'd start a thread for everyone applying.
I'm finishing up my last 2 prereqs this summer.
Good luck! :)
She said when you do your registration conference you'll talk about a placement, but it'll probably change as the semester starts. Once you start you assignment should always be on one floor, one unit, with one instructor. So for example, you could havefundamentals Tuesday at Westchester hospital 3rd floor urology with professor X and that will be the assignment the entire 10 weeks. However, some classes have a "component to them" but not a full clinical, so, one day of the 10 weeks you could be in the ER or lab or at a different facility. Does that make sense? Or during OB you might do 3 weeks in L&D and 3 weeks in postpartum. Or during critical care you could rotate each week to a different ICU ( CCU, etc). I hope that makes sense. You should be with the same professor in the same place with the same 10-15 students for the entire semester but each week could change floors for different experiences.
I've also applied to Stony Brook and waiting to hear back. If they accept me, I don't know which to choose because I hear so many more positive things about it, especially first hand from people in the program. They are happy and the professors are amazing. I wish I could talk to someone that's been through the program at pv and see how it really is
Congrats! Yes its a group interview and first you introduce yourself and they ask you for something you want them to know about you. They asked us what is an issue nurses face right now, talk about a challenge you faced and how you overcame it, one word that comes to mind when you think of a nurse, and why pace. There is a writing/math part beforehand which just asks you why nursing and pace is right for you, and about if you are going to work during the program. The math is simple such as fractions/decimals/percents. Good luck!!

She said we would mainly be in Westchester Manhattan and the Bronx. She said they consider where we live and are flexible but we have to be also. I feel better about that.
She said a few of the clinicals are half semester so we can expect to be in one place for one all semester but two different places for others (ex medsurg 12weeks and peds/OB split 6 weeks each).
I was accepted to TESC for OCT 2016 (they reject my appeal on an out of date prereq and offrred me a year to redo it and give a deposit to hold my seat) but I don't want to wait that long so I'm leaning toward Pace.
