Hi!
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ABSN program at Pace so we can go through this application process together!

Yes I did! That's exactly how I feel, more nervous now ?

I got this email too, right after the one talking about a virtual interview. I think this one is automated but I think it will definitely be virtual now.

I expect they might ask us more questions now.. hope not!

I’ve done the virtual interview a few weeks ago since I live in CA. I’ve managed to get in, and I can post more about the experience later today when I’m off from work.
Overall, not stressful ?

Hi there!
So just as a disclaimer, I had a virtual interview scheduled in early February before they sent out the email regarding virtual interviews due to corona virus. So I don’t know if they’ll change the format considering the in person interviews were in groups, but my interview was just me and two faculty members.
So during my interview, it was mostly them talking about the program and how clinicals are in CT or NJ. They also talked logistics and financial aid. Overall, I can’t say they really asked me anything. I got the opportunity to share why I wanted to pursue nursing and briefly mentioned some of my experiences in healthcare since they had questions about one of my positions. I was not asked the questions others have mentioned, such as what book are you reading.
Overall, I’d suggest you have questions prepared for them because that’s how I managed to prolong the interview and not seem like they were talking the whole time. It was untraditional in the sense that it wasn’t what I was expecting of an interview. Overall, it wasn’t stressful for me but the faculty that I had spoke with may have seemed aggressive and tried to make me second guess my decision in front of them, but that’s only because of their desire to emphasize that it’s a hard program.
Again, I don’t know if the format will be different for other virtual interviews. I had received an invite in Feb for 3/24 in person time slots only. However I managed to get 2/18 virtual which was at that time the only virtual interview slots available according to them. That’s why I can’t say with certainty that it’ll be similar to my interview since they’ll have to accommodate more people virtually now instead of in person.

Thanks so much for sharing! About how long was the whole interview? And what exactly did they do to make you second guess yourself?

I wasn't second guessing myself, but I think what they were trying to do was to intimidate participants and try to see any signs of hesitation or second guessing. That's why I'd recommend to maintain a confident demeanor during the interview because the people who interviewed me weren't necessarily the most pleasant and were throwing an onslaught of info. Although, it's understandable because they are doing their best to emphasize the difficulty of the program.
With my own questions to prolong the interview, it was about 20 minutes. However, it can vary because of the larger amount of people who will now be doing virtual interviews vs group/in-person interview. A large portion of it though was more so a presentation provided by the faculty about the ABSN program and financial aid.
I can say that what helped me with the interview was illustrating my desire for nursing and connecting it with larger goals in the future. I talked about my adjustment living in a different country and navigating a different healthcare system. So anything that can sell yourself well and connect to your goals I think is ideal. However, I truly think that the interview holds less weight and that the application as a whole is reviewed as I did not find the interview to be challenging/traditional. Honestly, it felt more like an orientation with the interviewers providing background info about the program. It was more so casual/conversational and not necessarily question based. So I would suggest that within this conversation you somehow insert yourself and assert yourself and your aspirations.
