Hi!
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ABSN program at Pace so we can go through this application process together!
Hey guys. I just wanted to help anyone who’s out there doubting themselves. My stats are: 3.2 overall GPA, B+ micro, B AP 2, B- AP 1, C in Stats, C+ chem, and B + in developmental growth (or whatever it’s called) . I have a BA in Anthropology and an associates in Liberal Arts. I’ currently work at the ED in a hospital near my home doing registration , have volunteered at New York Presbyterians ED for a while, and have an EMT license. Number one I’m shocked I was even asked to come in for an interview because the year prior one of the Pace advisors told me to take all my pre reqs over because I didn’t even match the average students stats. I applied to 4 associate degree nursing programs for CUNY and got into all of them (but as an undeclared because that’s the policy for CUNY programs when it comes to nursing.) I also applied to NYU for the hell of it. I’m okay with not being accepted I’m just grateful to have even been considered. I went through a lot of stuff in my undergrad- crazy stuff that I’m lucky to be alive! I submitted my application for pace back in late December got an interview for the 10th of March at 10 am on feb 20th. For anyone who’s feeling down and hurt by a rejection remember that it’s only going to make you a stronger more determined individual. You made it this far- you will get where you want to be just don’t give up. Just remember you are good enough and you will be a great nurse. It doesn’t matter where you start just where you finish- and as long as you have the heart for nursing you will make it. When you have good intentions for the world and to help others all the doors will open for you. Please, take my advice. I know what rejection feels like and it’s only going to make your acceptances feel 10x better. Of course I hope my interview goes well and I get to have a spot, but if I don’t I’m thankful I got to try. Don’t give up guys! You will all be great nurses!

@someoneacceptmeSo the associate programs for CUNY I believe the deadline was Feb 1 but some schools have rolling admission like QCC so I think you can apply at any time. See if you can do that. I think that’s how it works. But for the ones I applied to basically I was accepted me BUT I have yet to speak to an advisor to see what credits they’ll take for their nursing programs. I may or may not have to take courses over but we’ll see I know for sure that in order to get a full acceptance to their program you have to take the NPAX or some sort of entrance exam. So, in our cases since we took most of the pre reqs they’ll let you know if you have to take anything over to meet their standards then you take the exam then you get an acceptance If all goes well. But the initial acceptance to the school doesn’t mean acceptance to their nursing program. So yeah it’s tedious in the sense it “delays” you in comparison to an accelerated program but it doesn’t matter really- everyone ends up in the same boat eventually regardless of starting at an accelerated or an associates route. Eventually, it is encouraged you get your associates in nursing THEN BS. At this point idc how I get there I just want to get there. Some programs I suggest are LaGuardia, BMCC , Staten Island college, and New York City of technology. (Those are the ones I got accepted to as undeclared nursing route ). But yeah. Wasn’t hard to get in as a student. I have yet to see what it’s like to get in as a full on nursing student. There was no interview to get in, but once you get to the actual nursing potion some require interviews. They’re all good programs. The deadline for me to decide is May 1 I’m just gonna wait till the pace interview is over and decide. All this information I gave is from what I was told by people who got in and the website. But I’ll keep you updated once it actually happens.

@someoneacceptme aw! Thank you !! So do you! Yeah I only did Pace and NYU. A lot of the others like Adelphi asked for orgo and I didn’t take that. LOL orgo was taught terribly at the college I went to anyway. So yeah it was hard to find ones that didn’t ask for orgo or pathophysiology (which I couldn’t find courses anywhere near me for the life of me). And then Touro I didn’t have time to prep for the Npax before March 1 (that was their deadline). I work crazy shifts it was hard to prep I didn’t find out about their program till later. If you are interest for Touro next time I suggest prep for the NPAX you need a 120 and their standards don’t ask for too much. Check their website! But all in all, it’s going to be okay. Trust me. You’re going to find a school and be happy.

The deadline to take the PAX exam for Touro is actually in late March/April. The application itself was due March 1st. I'm taking my exam Monday.
