Pa Board of Nursing--Transcripts

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on their experiences with the PA Board of Nursing. I am currently in the process of registering to take the NCLEX, and am getting very frustrated at how long it is taking to process my transcripts. I have friends in other states who got their transcripts processed and received their ATT within 24 hours of them being sent. The board is also nearly impossible to get a hold of and are not very helpful if you do get to speak with them.

Has anyone had any luck with speaking to someone who can expedite the process of transcripts? Or is anyone in a similar situation?

Thanks! :)

Hi all, hopping on this thread!

Are other people experiencing this with the state board of nursing? My application checklist was totally done and even noted "completed" in PALS which means they initially reviewed it. My electronic transcripts got sent 6/4 and were noted retrieved 6/5.

In PALS it only changed to "pending review" on 6/16. I'm worried that it will take forever, and I have a job starting August 10 that I need at least my temporary license for, though I would really love to take my NCLEX before then.

I've emailed since they're not taking calls or walk-ins due to COVID and gotten only generic responses. Is there anything I can do?

Other info: I'm a PA resident but went to a school out-of-state, I submitted my original application minus the transcripts on 5/8

@wwowza I think you’re fine! They’re reviewing the applications based on when they’re completed. Give them like a week or two because they’ve been completely slammed.

You’ll have your graduate permit by August 10.

@wwowza Just wondering how fast they were able to process your application? I am in NP school and need my PA license in 3 weeks in order to start my clinicals or it will delay my schooling. I sent in my licensure by endorsement and temporary practice permit 3 weeks ago and it still has not been updated. I wasn't sure how long it typically takes to get a TPP in PA?

@wwowza @Peyton Hampson Do either of you have an update on how long it took to get your TPP?  I sent in my application on 12/16/20. I submitted my electronic transcripts on 1/11 and they were dated to 1/11 in PALS. But I also had them mailed too for good measure, because I was nervous electronic wouldn't be enough and now it has them dated as 1/27 and it has me nervous that I've been pushed to the back of the line.  But, my main concern is that I thought applying for a TPP meant I could work from the time I applied until I pass NCLEX and receive my license.  I don't understand what's taking so long, but my start date for my job keeps getting pushed back because of the delay.  It seems pointless to apply for a TPP if I won't get it until I get my ATT, because I'll take NCLEX immediately anyway.

My state senator and representative's offices have both reached out and what they were told is, as of December 2019, there's a policy in place that legislators can't expedite the process anymore. I feel defeated and like I'll be waiting forever to start working.
