Overweight

Ok guys, I have been a nurse since 2007 and since then I have gained about 50lbs.

Yes, I know I am not lying. It is very true. I used to fit in to xs scrubs. I work nights because it is convenient for my family and babysitting and my husbands schedule.

Tomorrow I start the dvd beachbody programs and hope for the best. It makes me sad that even at work people around me comment on how much weight I have gained. I can't fit into my clothes.

working nights I always find excuses to eat sweets or other bad things for weight.

Planks are rough. I'm not really overweight but my core is weak. If you can plank you are hardcore!

I can plank all day but I still can't do a full push up after all the exercising I've been doing. I have to a do a push up from my knees. I HATE push ups! I DESPISE push ups!!!!

Hey OC, how do you feel about push ups?

hahahahaha! Oh, yah know. I just love 'em! O.o

When I first stopped eating at McDonald's, I thought I would go crazy from the cravings. I just wanted their food (I craved the salt from it the most though), and it got to the point where I had to leave my debit card at home when I went to work. Now, if I eat it, it makes me physically ill. It just tastes so disgusting to me now. It took me three months to get to that stage, and now in the past eight months, I've only had fast food 10-15 times.

Sadly though, getting rid of the fast food has not caused me to lose any weight. :(!

It's a start though. I would eat McDonald's before I worked because it was real close to my house. If I have a burger it's from somewhere like Five Guys and without the bun with all the fixings. I tried to eat McDonald's a couple months ago and I couldn't finish it. It made me so uncomfortable.

My problem now is exercise. I have a lot of loose skin but I only really like swimming. Hate going to the gym.

I am about 100 lbs overweight (I don't feel it, but I look it). No health problems whatsoever other than the obesity.

My biggest issue has always been fast food. It's just so easy so I would eat Popeye's biscuits for breakfast, McDonald's for lunch and sometimes McDonald's for dinner again. Almost every single day of the week. I've finally broken that habit (well, sometimes I will get Popeye's once a week b/c their shrimp are to die for).

I am starting all kinds of exercises to help me lose weight and get in shape. The worst so far is the 30 day plank challenge. It's getting easier every day, but still kicking my butt!

Wow, I could have written that!

They are getting easier, but I'm really dreading when I get to the 5 min one! Luckily, I'm only on day four so I have a little ways to go before that one. :D

I just can't do push ups at all. My arms absolutely refuse to cooperate with my brain to move the correct way to do them so I just look really weird when I try to do them.

Yeah, my eating out all the time was mostly convenience. On the drive to and from work, there are just so many fast food options. And I always thought it was actually cheaper than buying food and cooking because I would eat from the dollar menu only. But then I actually sat down and looked at how much money I was spending on it a month. It wasn't pretty.

I had a gym account, but had to let it go for personal reasons so I'm trying to get into running. I started w/ the C25k program, but going from nothing to trying to run in 105+ degree weather was not working for me. I'm doing a new one now that starts you out slower, but in 12 weeks is supposed to have you running 20 mins w/o stopping. I'm hoping it works!

I would love to go swimming though, but I don't have access to swimming pools. :(

My issue is that I'd like to lose about 5-10 lbs., but I don't have a whole lot of vices to eliminate to lose those quick few pounds right off the bat. I'm 5'9", and was always between 125-130 lbs. In the last year or so I've slowly gained almost 10 lbs. Yes, that might seem ridiculous to get upset over, but it's mostly annoying because I just can't figure out why! I've never really gained weight, and I think it just might simply be my metabolism finally slowing down a bit. It's frustrating to have a few pairs of pants that are too tight, but even more so that I'm not quite sure how to tackle it. I already don't drink soda, barely ever drink alcohol, and barely ever eat fast food (only the occasional soft taco from Taco Bell. I know this is disgusting, even to a lot of fast food eaters. There is no excuse, they're just so damn delicious to me!).

I've also cut out a lot of carbs from my diet in the last 3 years, even before I gained the weight, just to be healthier, so it's not like I'm eating pasta for every meal. I've started exercising more seriously, both cardio and barre method, but I'm thinking I'm going to really have to cut out almost all the "whites" to make a dent in it. I would be willing to just accept the extra pounds, but since I don't know why I've gained, I'm worried the pounds are going to slowly keep creeping up.

My weight gain was slow too. It really got bad after I turned 35 and I was working NOCs then. That was a metabolic disaster! Now I'm about 35 lbs over my ideal weight and it is not budging. I cut out all carbs and sugar and thought that would make a dent, but I just lose and regain the same 10 lbs over and over. Very frustrating to get old :(

I hate burpees the most. Worst move ever invented!

Burpees are terrible!!! They are a special kind of hell.

I gained all my weight during my pregnancy, all 100lbs of it. I just thought, "Oh, I'm pregnant it doesn't matter because I'm eating for two." Yeah, it was terrible. Now I have all this extra skin & yuck.

A couple of years ago I had a hysterectomy and right oophorectomy. Lefty is still kicking out estrogen, so I haven't gone into menopause (yet). Since then, I have been steadily gaining weight, and not losing as easily as I could before the surgery. I have also been working nights for the last 7 months, and boy, let me tell you I feel like a big old walking ball of flab and cortisol. I am hoping now that I will be back to daytime hours at the end of this month I can get a better handle on my nutrition and exercise. I think I may have to go over to the blue side and peruse some threads too.
