Good Afternoon Everyone!
I am apply in August 2020 for Summer 2021! I am so very excited about this opportunity, as it will allow me to become a CNM in 3-4 years rather than 10-12 (ish) years (getting an ASN, 1-2 years to get into L&D as a nurse, 1-2 years of L&D experience/get BSN, and finally MSN program). I have huge dreams, but it all starts here. I am super nervous about admissions because I didn't do too amazing during my undergrad (I was young and just doing it to have a degree) and graduated with a 2.8. I did do pretty well with my graduate degree (3.8), so i am hoping that will help. I called and he said that not having a 3.0 in undergrad won't disqualify me. I have also gotten A's in each of the pre-reqs that I have taken so far (though I am taking pharm this semester).
I look forward to hearing feedback and also connect with other students who are applying this year as well.

Hi there!
I'm also planning to apply in August 2020 for summer 2021 for the CNM specialization!! This program seems like a fantastic opportunity. However, I'm still struggling with the decision to go the ABSN route, hopefully work as an L&D nurse for a year or so, and then apply to traditional programs. Any OSU grads who can shed some light on how this program worked out for you? I've gotten mixed reviews from CNMs, nurses, and NPs on whether or not the experience as an L&D nurse really matters when it comes to future job options.
Thanks in advance everyone!

Hey!
I am pretty much in the same boat. I am actually currently on a wait list for a ASN program and working towards it. I am going to let fate play out, if I am accepted into this program (preferred) I will go that route, and after passing the NCLEX our second year try and get a job as a L&D nurse to get some experience during the last year. If not I am set to start the ASN program next fall and then work towards the traditional route, which I expect to be more complicated because how competitive most L&D nursing positions are.

Hello everyone!
I too, plan on applying for OSU graduate entry program for class of 2021! I am super nervous and excited too about this program!! I am currently done with all the prerequisite and I plan on applying for FNP which is the most competitive specialty out of all the other. Good luck to everyone!

That is very exciting! I went to an informational session on Monday and it was definitely enlightening. I will be done with my pre-reqs after summer but am starting to write my purpose statement now. He actually stated that the FNP specialty accepts the most amount of applicants, I hope that gives you some more hope. Just to think in a year we will hopefully be getting our acceptance letters!
Good Luck!!

I wanted to attend that session! But I live in pittsburgh so I’m hoping to attend one in the summer. Was it beneficial? Any good info regarding the CNM specialty?
The info session is really helpful to get you to understand what you are getting yourself into. You don’t have to come to Ohio to attend the session, they will email you a link 1 week prior to the session where you can attend the session online and ask questions. Hope that helps.
I agree with FNPbuckeye, it was very helpful and informative about the program and the admission process. I didn't have specific information about each program or specialty, it was more a well rounded look. I feel a lot better after attending on what all I need to include in my purpose statement. I definitely recommend attending one (you can do so virtually). They are also great at answering questions. That being said their have someone in their office that is currently going through the program and has the CNM specialty. I plan on setting some time aside to talk with her and ask questions about the CNM program specifically. He said all we needed to do was contact them and they will be able to connect us with her (or other students) to get the student perspective.

I have been reading previous blogs with this same topic for previous years. I’ve been waiting for my year to be present and start in in the conversation. I’m applying to the Adult-Gerontology specialty. I’ve started my personal statement, but after a few experiences as work I’m working on changing it. I have a BS in psychology and currently work at The James as a surg tech. I’m only applying to the OSU.

I will be applying to the WHNP speciality. Graduated undergrad at OSU with a BA in political science and is a PCA at The James. I will be finishing the last two of the prerequisites this Summer. I’m definitely a bit nervous for I know the program is very competitive however let’s see how it all falls in place. We got this!

Hi Everyone!
I plan on applying for OSU graduate entry AGPC-NP program for the class of 2021. I am currently taking my last 2 prerequisites and have a background in Physical Therapy!
Has anyone heard info on the AGPC speciality? I have looked through past threads and didn't find much, if you know anything let me know!
