Orlando Tech August 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone out there planning on going to Orlando Tech for their LPN starting in August? I'm currently in the process of applying for the daytime program, but I feel very in the dark. I went to the orientation, I've sent in my online application, and have heard nothing since. I called and left a message for someone in I think nursing admissions (I got transferred a few times) regarding the next steps. I'd love to meet some people that are going through the process currently, or have done it recently and give me some pointers!

Yay! I just secured my spot but she didnt say how many seats were left I forgot to ask. So study hard for the teas it's not that bad!:)

I'm in the process of taking my last final for the semester right now, then I have a week to just relax and spend time out in Texas with the boyfriend. I'm hitting my ATI workbook hard when I get back now that I've got pretty much everything else together.

Oh, is your spot automatically secured once you turn the packet in? Or do they have to review it or anything?

@ksmall24 Congratulations! I take it next week. I bought the McGraw hill to study with the ATI study book so hopefully that helps. Does the recommendations letters have to come from a certain person?

Yeah I'm still doing finals now so it's been hard to get time to do it all but I'm glad I did it. She reviews it on the spot and the only think that would block you from starting would be the background check or drug test which they do in July at orientation. No the references are anyone other than family, I had my boss and a friend fill out the paper for me.

Are you guys stopping at Lpn or trying to continue on to asn? I am trying to look up some Lpn-rn programs but most I've found are the private college(which I refuse to do and don't recommend anyone to do) or just community colleges but those might be hard to get into.

@ksmall24 my ultimate goal is a nurse practitioner. So this is only the beginning. I feel you on the private school I wouldn't go there too much money.

Oh good mine too glad to know I'm not alone in using this as a stepping stone!

If I don't end up moving to Texas after this, I plan on doing the bridge program at Valencia. I'll have all my pre-reqs for that some at the end of July. If I do go to Texas, there's an LPN-BSN bridge I'm looking into.

Quick immunization question- other than tetorifice, which I know needs to be within 10 years, do any other the other vaccines need a booster within a certain timeframe? I have my dr appointment the day before I retake the TEAS.

There wasn't any I noticed but I'm not sure

That BSN program in Texas specifically or online?

Online. I can do an LPN-RN bridge in Texas though and then bridge to BSN.

Just want to vent my frustration somewhere- Valencia just dropped me from my summer classes due to nom-payment, but I have financial aid to cover everything! Grrrr. I better be able to get back into all my classes.
