Orientation/First day of school experience?

Published

How was everyones first day of school/orientation for LPN/LVN school. My start date is only one month away and i'm so nervous, so any and all experiences are welcome. Also how should I dress and what do you feel is appropriate hair/makeup for school. THANKS in advanced. :)

Our first day, we walked in and all of our books were on the desks we were supposed to sit at, which had our names on it. We wore whatever we wanted. Most of us usually wear jeans or yoga pants and put at least some effort into our hair and makeup, but it's not really necessary. We went around the room and introduced ourselves, were told about how the program works, and saw a slideshow from the last class. It was a pretty relaxed day. :)

You'll be fine! Enjoy your free time and sleep while you can! :p

Our orientation day, we picked our seats with our folders, name badge lanyards, and pen on it. All the staff at the school told us a bit about themselves and what they do. The last person we saw was our instructors who gave us homework. 5 chapters, 2 open book quizzes, study terms, and reviews. Good grief. All due the first day of class. We have been informed that we can wear normal clothes or scrubs. Im choosing scrubs for ease lol.

There is generally a great deal of information, and it is hard to remember it all, so try to go back and look at everything after orientation. Read and know your handbook, much of the information will come from that. It is an introduction day in order to give you an idea as to what to expect. Have fun and get to know your team. Dress comfortable, but professional. Wear layers, because you never know how the temp in the room will be with all the nervous bodies. Bring a bottle of water, if allowed.

I have a few months before my orientation. The program starts in September. I am nervous as well and still have a few months to go! I'm totally excited though and can't wait to start studying. I'm a big nerd and actually enjoy studying and school, ha. I did most of my pre-nursing classes towards the ADN program at my previous school, but moved to another state and the wait is tremendous. I am doing the LPN route, then on to my RN degree. Anyways, I love hearing whats to expect, b/c I have no idea how to dress either. Do we wear scrubs or regular clothing, etc.

My orientation was in March. We start class on June 2nd. I'm doing the LPN then on to my RN. I wore some nice casual attire to my orientation, nice light makeup, took a notebook, and a bottle of water. My orientation was four hours. They went over our health information and gave us places to go get our physicals and stuff done for an affordable price. They talked about what an LPN is as well as what our school required. Since I will be doing a part time/ weekend program. They talked about classes being three nights and clinicals on the weekend. We were given our price sheet, our book list, and some other information about the school. I am very nervous because it seems overwhelming, and I work a 8-430 job Monday-Friday. We weren't given any assignments or syllabi so I'm assuming every orientation is different. Best of luck!

Every school will be different. My orientation is 2 days. I use one day as a tech day, because we use ebooks. I have visitors from the Library, financial aide, the RN instructors, our skills lab and simulation coordinator give tour and expectations of their labs. We go over expectations, handbooks, give out initial assignments and the syllabus for each class. So each school will have a different orientation time. Ours is called Boot Camp for the PN student. Present yourself with excitement, be comfortable but don't look sloppy. Think to yourself, "How would I like to see someone come into my class if I were the teacher?" First impressions are hard to change.

PennyMT for our orientation you wear regular clothing, they will let you know if you have paperwork not complete and also you will take your ID badge picture so look cute 😊 students from this year might come in and give some words of wisdom. The principal will Speak and some instructors might be there to speak. It's exciting.
