Published

Hello everyone!

I haven't seen a post for OHSU's 2024 ABSN program and figured I would start one!

Thank you! I submitted my Kira Talent interview February 4th and interviewed with the PMHNP panel February 6th. I hope this helps with your own timeline, good luck!!

Congratulations! I applied for the ABSN to PhD program. I submitted my Kira Talent interview on the 13th and my panel interview is on Wednesday. It seems like the doctoral programs all have pretty different timelines. How was your panel interview?? I'm so nervous!

It was really relaxed! Standard interview questions, no hard balls! I can't say for certain yours will be similar to my experience, but if you're prepping answers I think you'll be fine!! Good luck!

? I have a feeling our decisions will start rolling out this week ?

I hope so! I'm anxiously awaiting it

Me too! I just want to know so I can plan the next year of my life! I think we will definite hear by this Friday.

What are everyone else' backups?

Also thinking of other options if I don't get in. I would really like to start a program next fall, but also don't think I will leave Portland because my partner and I have roots here.  As a backup I'm considering Linfield for Summer 25 start, or maybe even UP.  But my best option might actually be waiting for another round of OHSU.  I am excited about the culture/values of the school, and the potential for the work/tuition program.  I can also bike/jog to campus so that is a dreamy plus.

FWIW I applied with only 3 prerequisites completed (with As), and was stoked when I got an interview.  I think my essays were decent, and my experience has me convinced that the OHSU team does indeed utilize a holistic review process, in contrast to the community college programs where I couldn't even apply this fall due to not having prereqs completed.  All nursing programs in the PNW are competitive, but in different ways.

OHSU is my only in state option as I'm in the same boat as you prereq-wise.

I applied to some out of state schools and got two acceptances. Goldfarb in St. Louis has a 12 month ABSN program. I also got into MSOE in Milwaukee and they offer a pretty nice grant for ABSN students (I think it's around $22k per year that they give you).

Congrats on the acceptances!!

OHSU is also my only instate option. I couldn't justify the cost of Linfield. I have all of my prereqs completed with one B+ in my first term of anatomy lab. I hope that's good enough... we'll know shortly

You're absolutely right about the holistic review process, at least for the ABSN admissions. I think there's a bit of a different selection process for the 3 year program, but I'm not certain how all that works. For the ABSN their focus is on what unique skills and experiences you can bring to your practice as a nurse, especially your non-healthcare experience. I also applied with only three prerequisites complete and was accepted so it was absolutely my other experiences that got me here.

I know the wait is horrible - Hopefully decisions are out soon! Good luck to everyone! ?

Decisions are out. I didn't get in:( good luck to everyone else
