Hello everyone!

I haven't seen a post for OHSU's 2024 ABSN program and figured I would start one!

Has anyone heard any email about bend ABSN? I know this is the Portland group however I believe there are a few waitlisted individuals that applied for both. I would love to know when anyone gets more emails! I will update if I do as well. Thanks!

I called and asked about the Bend application, and they stated that the week of April 29th they expect to send out interview decisions for the Bend campus and then people will find out about getting in sometime closer to the end of May or early June, even though the program in Bend is only Summer term so it would start June30th

Hi everyone! I'm a new grad RN from California who got an offer at OHSU. Can someone tell me how's the culture and environment of OHSU hospital? I don't have any idea about Oregon specifically OHSU.

Apologies for the off-topic question being posted in your forum.

I work at OHSU currently as a clinical research coordinator in trauma surgery and emergency medicine so I work in and out of all ICUs. ED and throughout several ward units. I've also spent a lot of time there with my son as a patient before he unfortunately passed away 2 years ago, and I'm a patient as well as I have MS and see a neurologist there. I've lived in Oregon my entire life and have experience as a patient with Providence, Kaiser, legacy and OHSU and I can say wholeheartedly that OHSU is the best of them all. As an employee, a student finishing my undergraduate degree through their school of Public Health, and as a patient, OHSUs culture is great. I've personally gotten to know many nurses in my time working in research and many of whom who've worked at other big hospitals in the state and they all love OHSU and have settled there after bad employment experiences elsewhere. It's not perfect, nowhere is and there's always going to be some kind of drama or complaints from some people but most people I've gotten to know and dealt with are really happy at OHSU. I haven't seen a lot of the toxic stuff you see in most healthcare facilities, I've yet to see the classic egotistical doctor attitude in any of the providers I've dealt with, it all feels very collaborative in my experience. I can't speak to the whole hospital but in all the units I regularly spend time, it's a culture of support, collaboration and everything feels fairly organized compared to other places I've spent time. I highly recommend OHSU to anyone in healthcare.

It sounds like you have a deep connection to OHSU, both personally and professionally. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your son and your struggles with MS, but it's heartening to hear that you've found comfort and quality care at OHSU. Your perspective as both an employee and a patient offers a unique insight into the hospital's culture and operations.

It's wonderful to hear that you've experienced a collaborative and supportive environment there, especially in such critical areas as trauma surgery and emergency medicine. Thank you for sharing your positive experience.

It may be more beneficial to take your question to threads of those already working as RNs?

Yes, true! I didn't find any threads, unfortunately.
