MA to Dialysis Tech?
Hi all, I need some help deciding if it is worth it to pursue Dialysis tech training with Fresenius as a current certified MA. I've been with the same company for 7 years, and have been an MA for 5 of them. I want to expand my knowledge and experience, but there aren't many opportunities to do so in my current position. Frankly, as long as you are curious and open to learning, there is always something new to be learned in the family practice/walk-in setting I'm in now, but it does not offer much in the way of specialized skills like hemodialysis tech does. I'm looking for guidance on whether this is a path worth pursuing, or if I should continue in my current position as an MA. my pros to pursuing dialysis tech: -paid training that allows me to sit for CCHT exam and chance to add additional certification to my resume/apps -the clinic I'd work at is only open three days a week so that is three days a week of work, and to me, that is a pro when I'm still grinding out pre-reqs. -specialized experience with a new patient population and new company my cons for pursuing dialysis tech: -entry level (non-certified) training entails a pay cut of at least $3-4 dollars per hour from what I make now. -the unknowns (will I be a good fit for the job? Will I be a good fit at the clinic? Will I regret leaving my long term job where I know everyone and know what I'm doing?) -stress of learning a new trade on top of performing extremely well in pre-reqs/ burnout potential Any thoughts on this are appreciated!!

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) BSN 2024
I recall them mentioning Johnson&Johnson and recommending visiting their site. They've been supportive of the nursing field for a long time, so there is maybe good info to draw from there in terms of evidence-based practice and philosophy? they also mentioned it is good to really have a good handle on your personal mission as a nurse, what patient populations you are wanting to work with, and, of course, the standard in-depth understanding of OHSU's mission. The mock questions asked in my breakout group were: 1.) why do you want to be a nurse? 2.) Why OHSU? 3.) What strengths do you bring to OHSU and the field of nursing? 4.) What personal opportunities for growth do you hope to develop if admitted to OHSU? 5.) Talk about a conflict you had with a classmate or coworker and how did you handle it? 6.) Talk about a time you had to adapt your ways to a new situation. 7.) Talk about a time you had to work through a project or problem with little to no guidance. again, best of luck. I hope the same for me as I have heard nothing, so it is still ever so slightly possible I could hear something Monday!

Woah, you rock just for replying regardless of campus! I automatically feel better LOL. It appears La Grande sent out their campus invites, according to another poster on this thread. I have seen zilch from Ashland, Klamath, or Portland applicants yet, but I suspect I will know more Monday. If I don't get an interview this time, that is okay, it's just more time to work on strengthening my app. And, of course, congrats on your interview and hard work. Very best of luck to you!

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) ABSN 2024
Since there are no threads for my application cycle or program (3 year BSN (NOT ABSN) at Ashland)… and I can't be the only one... can someone, anyone, tell me if they have received an interview invite today for the 3 yr Ashland program? Please? I've not received any communication and today is the day they stated they would make contact.

Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) BSN FALL 2023
Just wondering if anyone here knows if OHSU will still send an email if they decide not to select you for interview? I applied for Ashland Fall 2024 and today is the day we are supposed to receive an invitation to interview, if we should receive one at all! I just don't know how I can go about my day unless I know I will hear something!
