Oregon Health and Science University 2014 cohort

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello,

I thought I'd start a thread about anyone currently applying to any of the OHSU Nursing programs for the 2014 cohort. I currently have three applications in with them: Accelerated BSN to MSN: Psychiatric Mental Health, Accelerated BSN, and the traditional BSN Program. Has anyone had any word from them? I know that the Accel. programs have closed both their applications. Any word on interviews or scheduling?

I am currently finishing up my preqs at PCC. I am working full-time and am just flustered. I hate not knowing anything with regard to where I stand or what type of candidate they are looking for.

Does anyone else feel similarly?

How did you answer your essay questions?

I'm curious for knowledge to see if I made the boat or missed it completely.

*on-pins-and-needles-for-now-I-guess*

were you on the alternate list or a direct admit?

alternate. "highly likely," and got the call the morning that they started calling alternates. A huge chunk of our cohort (fall, there are 32 of us) was waitlisted. Honestly, I didn't think I had any chance of getting in, so I was just thrilled to not be cut in the first round!

Questions!! Yes!!

I will be commuting and I would like to know the best situation for parking.

Is there a bus/train/donkey--whatever I can take from wilsonville/Tualatin area?

What are the school days like, all day? Mid day?

Also, what do you think our first week of school will be like in terms of the hours?

I am trying to create my exit plan for work, so this would be helpful to know :)

Thanks!!

Hey everyone -

Is there a FB group started for the OHSU ABSN Fall 2014 cohort? Just found out today that I was taken off the alternates list for fall and am now in the fall cohort! (I had to drop my spot in the summer cohort because I hadn't finished genetics).

Thanks!

lb0109 when and how did you find out that you had been removed from the altenate list? I am an alternate in the "highly likely" category and am trying to stay hopeful. Any insight would be helpful, thanks!

ng427 - They called me with the news this morning. Did you request to be switched from summer to fall cohort?

No, I was just waitlisted from the get go unfortunately. They told me that by the first week of may they would have an idea of how many people they would take from the waitlist so I have been anxiously awaiting news.

Just got my acceptance for the 3 yr BSN PDX!

Can I ask you guys about clinicals? For OHSU students in the Portland area, are they all going to be at OHSU?

Is is it better to do the 3 year BSN vs. Community college bridge? I am stoked and excited! Although I am only wait listed at clackamas, I want to still consider it just as a back up.

What are your thoughts?

I'm another "Highly Likely" alternate biding my time and awaiting a phone call. I too got the generic response from admissions saying that "they'd know more about those currently offered a spot by May 1." Based on last years message boards it looks like it was this same week that most of those highly likely alternates heard from OHSU and received a spot.

Has anyone gotten any more information in regards to the timeline on this? I know they offer spots all the way up until the first day of class, but hoping to find out sooner for sure.

Best of luck to you MrBuckeye! Sounds like we are in the same boat, fingers crossed we both hear good news shortly! This waiting game is killer...

I didn't get in to OHSU and I am super bummed :( I got accepted to another program which is awesome. However, I was really enjoying the idea of living in Oregon for a year! Oh well, works out how it was meant to be. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!
