OK, I have to take A & P II in the spring with at least one other science. Which one is less likely to kill me with A & P II...Chemistry or Microbiology?

Thanks :)

Another vote for micro. I'm taking the course now, and I've found it much easier and far more interesting than chem. Good luck!

Check with others in your program and see which they recommed. How a class is taught by the instructors you get has a lot to do with how difficult it is.

Thank you everyone :) Lots of good points. I really don't like Math so I am kind of leaning towards Micro, but I am going to ask around at school as well.

Yikes! How is it humanly possible to absorb that kind of information in so little time! 8 week summer semesters alone are enough for me! It must be quite intensive!

It is very intense. Exams every 4 days and hours of lab each day. It's mostly an online course, with the exception of the labs. There are quite a few of us in the program signing up for it because we DO NOT want to take it along with our regular nursing classes. Besides sociology, it's the only corequisite I have left to take. I want to get it done and get it done fast! I will let ya'll know how it goes when summer rolls around (that is, if I have time to breathe in between classes!) :D

I'd ask other students what is the hardest class..then take the easiest.

Ask your advisor if you don't know other students.

You could even call the teachers of these classes, sometimes they're straightforward and will tell you if they have a high withdraw rate and people do bad in the class.

Chemistry is stupid. I would take that, just to get it over with.

Microbiology: I learned that everything on earth was absolutely disgusting and all I wanted to do was disinfect everything, which has actually come in handy in the way I clean my kitchen, bathroom...

LOL that is so funny! I am taking Clinical Micro right now and it is amazing how much "stuff" is out there....and I just love those pictures in my book of worms with their "suckers"....LOL Now everytimes I walk into the stinky (truely it is...lol) Micro lab I feel I have bacteria crawling all over me....LOL

Clinical Micro (4 hrs and no pre-reqs) at my school is a blow off course, but you really do learn a lot and it is fun, we did throat cultures on each other thursday and I almost felt like an RN LOL!! We did a rapid strep test and also put our swabs in blood agar plates.

But there is another Micro class called Principles of Microbiology (5 hrs w/ Intro Chem and Zoo pre-req's) that is upposed to be hard as h*ll. From the looks of it (they are right next door to my Physio class) it looks *nothing* like Clinical Micro--looks scarey to me!

Chem goes with Physio (at least in my class) so it might help you in the physio part of A&P- I think that is what I would take. Yes it will be hard but Micro will be too I assume.

But definatly ask around at your school! So much depends on the teacher- have you had a lot of science so that you know what to expect? I took an Intro to Chem class this summer and now I am taking Chem 1 next semester, I think that helps. I dont know about you, but I talk to the teachers a lot too and most have been very honest about their classes (how many drop out, average grades, etc) I'll walk by there offices and drop in during office hours and ask (most never seem to mind and are happy to talk with me).

I would vote for micro w/ A&P. You'll be doing microscope work in both, dealing with slides, they kind of run in a similar direction. Personally I never took more than one science in a semester, I'm just not that brainy! :chuckle
