Passed Foundations in Nursing Practice this morning. A lot of select all questions were on my test. I thought this was by far the easiest of Phase I. I focused more on the content guide and my older books from LPN school rather than SG101 alone. I found some errors in the SG101 study guide as well. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'm taking that test Monday so any more info would be appreciated. I'm also using SG101 so the errors would be nice to know, thanks.
I just made a B on Health Differences Tuesday, and this was easier then Health Differences?
I'm taking reproduction next. I read in the pharmacy book that a African American do NOT respond well to ACE inhibitor drugs. They respond better on calcium channel blockers. Know your glaucoma drugs. SG101 didn't go into detail about miotioc drugs or others. I had about 4 drug questions. 25 questions were select all that apply.
I really used the Saunders NCLEX and the practice exams. The Saunders book was a life saver on this test. Know the definition of legally blind. That was not in the SG101 but in the nclex book. I know there's tons of different test questions that I got that other's won't have. Just saying the practice exams and Saunders made this exam a piece of cake.
Thank you very much. I found the Saunders NCLEX to be a lifesaver for Health Differences and it's what I've been using so far for this exam.
Good luck on Reproduction. When are you taking it? I'll be taking it the 28th.
Oh gosh! I haven't even thought that far ahead yet. I thinking August 1st. I'm off that day.
If I do it the 28th I'll give you my impressions.
Thank you so much. Birthing babies isn't my cup of tea.

I used sg101 also and if you look, it's all in there. From studygroup101 study guide:
What are the criteria for declaring a patient legally blind? The corrected vision in the pt's better eye is 20/200 or worse.
What is the expected action of giving a miotic to a pt w/glaucoma? to constrict the pupils and pull the ciliary muscles, increasing the outflow of aqueous humor.
MIOTICS - Cause the papillary constriction and are used to treat glaucoma. These drugs increase the outflow of the aqueous humor by affection the ciliary muscle contraction and pupil constriction.Pilocarpine is a miotic used to constrict the pupil and increase aqueous outflow in the treatment (tx) of glaucoma.
A number of medications are used to treat eye disorders. Mydriatics and cycloplegics are used for the client with cataracts. Miotics, beta blockers, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are ordered for the client with glaucoma to constrict the pupil and reduce pressure within the eye. It is important for you to review the side effects and contraindications for these medications:
• Cycloplegics
• Miotics
• Mydriatics
and about 10 other entries. It does tell you to review the drugs, so you should really do that.
I'm reviewing my SG101 notes right now and found this...
"African Americans often respond better to ACE inhibitors for hypertension than whites do"
That's an error.
