Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

hey guys! just saw this thread! i hope everyone gets in this year. how many of you are applying to york? i am! do you know when acceptances are sent out and what gpa should i be confident with at this point?

good luck guys!

Does anyone know if it's really bad if you drop a course and it shows up on your transcript as 'withdrawn'? I'm taking this elective course right now and the professor is, not to offend, horrible. Her teaching methods are not effective yet she demands a lot from her students. I'm hoping it won't be much of an issue because it's just an elective.

Hi Everyone,

I was trying so hard to find a forum for this year and stumbled upon this!

Anybody going to UofT's Bloomberg information session tomorrow?

@zzyy,

I don't think it will be a problem at all since students withdraw for a number of reasons especially early in the term, as long as you meet all of your course requirements :). I believe it just shows up as a "WD" for withdrawn which they overlook, whereas if you withdrew later in the term universities usually assign you a grade of 32%.

I wasn't able to make UofT's November as well as tomorrow's info session because of the timing. If you're attending, would you be willing to share any information you found particularly helpful? :)

For anyone applying to U of T, can you tell me what the 'personal statement' portion of the supp application asks? I am still waiting for references so I can't access that part of application to work on it until they get back to me.. Thanks :)

Hey guys! Anyone applying to u of t and doing the supplementary application? Also does anyone know what the GPA cutoff was for u of t last year?

I'm currently working on it as well! Someone I know who works in further education planning contacted them for me and they basically said they don't exactly have a cutoff, and a high GPA won't guarantee a spot because their review process is holistic. Meaning that they look at all the stuff in the supplementary application which is why they ask for a minimum B+. However, last year's incoming class had on average an A- to A level standing. Hope this is helpful!

Sorry! this was redundant. I answered your question below

1) What skills, strengths, and interests do you have that make you a good candidate for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program? (250 Words)

2) Describe a meaningful intellectual experience you have had. This could be a dynamic class you took, exposure to a particular theory that resonated with you, or a learning relationship you developed with someone outside an academic context. Consider circumstances under which you have developed a talent or skill that has transformed the way you approach problems. (250 words)

I see, thanks for your input! :) I'll try giving them a call, too.

Does anyone one know which programs are preferred by employers? And also which programs are better overall?

Is anyone else's university having technical difficulties with OUAC in getting their transcripts sent to the universities you applied to?
