Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Congrats on getting accepted to UofT! Do you mind sharing you grades and ECs?

You can accept the offer from York for now, and then later on if you receive acceptance from Western, decline the York offer and accept Western's.

To all of you getting accepted... you are my inspirations lol! I am having a VERY hard time waiting an entire 8 months before I even apply! :/

Has anyone been accepted to Trent with a 78 or 79 average (3.3-3.4 GPA) yet? Just want to see if the cut-off average might be around that this year :/

@najpop I just finished my last year of undergrad and my last 2 year GPA wasn't high, around 3.7. I mainly had research experience, hospital volunteering, and volunteered with a non profit. My marks weren't that high to be honest, so I think that if you're application and extracurriculars were good, it perhaps does play a role in your application.

To any current uoft nursing students : How intense are the papers in the uoft nursing program. Essay writing is not my specialty, as in I do not enjoy writing papers, but I do have a passion for healthcare/anatomy/physiology and all about learning and reading about these subject areas. Will I suffer in the uoft accelerated nursing program??

Hey guys! I have a question about the references need for UofT. I will be applying next year. It says that we need one academic reference and one work-related. The academic reference must be someone who taught us in a course. I am wondering if anyone has used a research supervisor for this? I did an independent studies course and my supervisor assigned assignments and graded my work. He gave me a final mark for this course which is on my transcript so I'm wondering if I could use such an academic reference?

Would I be able to use someone I worked on a research project with as a work-related reference (this person didn't grade my work and I worked on different stuff with)?? I have just done so much research all of my references are research-related :p

THanks!!!

When I applied, I used my volunteer coordinator for a professional reference and a professor for an academic reference. I would definitely recommend using your research supervisor for a professional reference, and if you have a professor who taught you, just use them for the academic reference, that would be the smartest thing to do and it will not potentially compromise such a competitive application.

When are final transcripts due in to each school

I hear all the students that got in to Uoft and cant help but feel a bit jealous. I have a 3.8 in my 3 years of university and I have experience of working at a Nursing lab as a sim assistant but I still have not received any offer. Pretty upset lol maybe UofT prefers students who have a bachelors degree already complete? regardless Congrats to all that got accepted to their first choice.

Yes, they mainly accept people in 4th year or those that have graduated unfortunately.

Hey everyone, do you think my chances of getting accepted to UofT are good? I have just completed my undergrad and my final year average is a 3.7 and about an 84%. I also have TONS of experience working in hospitals, clinics, school organizations, and research. One study I co-authored is being submitted to the BMJ, as well.

Also, I took 4 courses in this winter semester and 5 courses in the fall semester for a total of 4.5 FCEs. UofT looks at your most recent 5 FCEs. So how would they calculate the last half credit? Would they average out my GPA from the semester before? Will they take the highest mark? Will they take the lowest mark? Thanks!

Hey guys, does anyone know if OUAC sends our final transcripts on our behalf?

I received an acceptance from Trent a few weeks ago and I have a 3.3 GPA.

The offer package took a while to come in the mail though, almost over a week.
