Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

World Canada CA Programs

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Congrat @tdmah Do you mind sharing your gpa?

Thank you so much! I'm not sure how they calculated it because I did part-time studies in my last year, but it was between a 3.9 - 4.0. :)

@damirdoma and @tdmah yay!!! me too! Are you two going to accept? I was looking for a facebook page for new nursing students in the fall at U o T :)

For those accepted at UofT, do you all have an undergrad/grad degree or are at least graduating this year? Curious since I'm in second year of my undergrad right now, and heard that majority of students have completed at least 4 years

I'm finishing up my 4th year, so graduating this year.

Yay! I'm waiting to hear back from UBC and Western. UBC is my first choice because I live in BC, but I'm still definitely considering UofT. :) I've been looking for a Facebook group too!

Does anybody know what the percentage of acceptances are for Trent and Humber?

I called Trent yesterday and was told they are slowly accepting students right now and they are currently accepting around 80% not sure about Humber

Hey! I was accepted to Trent a few days ago with a 84% average! Good Luck :)

Congrats! Based on your past year of studies or past 2 years? What do they look at?

The last two years I think! But the Casper test also can effect your acceptance if you have a lower GPA and a higher score on the test!

I believe you have to have a minimum grade for the Casper test to be considered. Which is extremely nerve-wracking since we don't get to see how we did

Hi all! Long time lurker, just thought I'd update everyone. I received my acceptance to UofT yesterday. I had applied to UWO and UofT only, as they were my top two and I didn't have the money to apply to a bunch of schools. I graduated from Brock University with a degree in Public Health in 2016. I also spent a year in France learning French on exchange. During my time at Brock, I did an undergraduate thesis in falls prevention in a local hospital. I also worked for student health services in smoking prevention, and as a TA for a qualitative research class. My overall average is lower, 80, but I had an 86, and 84 in my last two years of study (not sure what that is in GPA). In the past year I volunteered at a local needle exchange, as well as an AIDS service organization.

And that's pretty much it. I submitted my application on the very last day. Let me know if you have any questions :)

When you say Trent is accepting about 80%, do you mean 80% of all applicants?
