Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

Does anybody know the policy/ procedures regarding accepting offers via OUAC? Specifically, will we still be able to receive offer of admissions from other universities even though we already accepted one offer?

I called OUAC today and they said: If you accept an offer, other schools can still make offers and it does not impact their decision (or should not, rather). However, they can see that you accepted another school.

hi everyone, i just called york to see if i could get any news and apparently they have already started sending out their acceptances since late march... -_-

I bet that is also connected to when people wrote their CASPers, as well as degree progress (i.e., still waiting on a whole semester of grades vs. already finished degree so GPA standing is known). Take heart!

Out of curiosity those accepted to UofT , do they send a package by mail and does it disclose scholarship info etc. ?

Got an email today from UofT stating that they are reviewing my application but asked for an additional academic reference...kinda confused anybody know why? I applied last year and got waitlisted near June/July so i guess them reviewing this early should be a good sign?

Hey guys, just thought I'd tell you that I got my acceptance to UofT today :) I'm a UofT fourth year undergrad with lots of research experience but stressed empathy and kindess on my personal statement. GPA wasn't really all that high nor competitive.

Congratulations! :) what was your GPA like if you dont mind me asking

Yah in the acceptance email uoft says it's sending a package by post, although i haven't received mine yet. For scholarship info, the email says "If you applied for admission awards at the time of your application to our program, you should hear from us in early spring, but only if you are successful in the award competition. Even if you do not hear from us in early spring, you may still be offered an award later, as additional awards become available."

@kitkat546 @st920739 I received my package in the mail from UofT yesterday - so a week after my acceptance email.

For those of you who got accepted to UofT, what was you gpa and non academic experiences like? I'm a bit concerned my gpa is too low and I don't have enough nursing related experiences (I don't have any)...

yeah it was around a 3.4

Hey CSSI, I was just wondering what kind of research experience you participated in? If you have any other supplementary related experiences please let me know. I'm also in my fourth year of my degree, but I do not have any research experience yet I have clinical lab experience and have health-care related work experience as a lab assistant at an outpatient lab. I am very anxious about my chances. Your acceptance gives me hope!

My research experience was clinical for about a year but then I spent another year (split between two labs) in wet labs. I really didn't talk about it a lot in my supplementary application though. I talked about my experience with some undergraduate clubs and the time I spent building houses with habitat for humanity. Glad I could give you some sort of hope though! :)

Mcmaster is making me so anxious....come on already!!!
