Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

Hey everyone! Does anyone know how many students York accepts into their compressed program?

Hey guys, just thought I'd tell you that I got my acceptance to UofT today :) I'm a UofT fourth year undergrad with lots of research experience but stressed empathy and kindess on my personal statement. GPA wasn't really all that high nor competitive.

I received an email this morning saying that I am on the waitlist for Queen's AST nursing. Is anyone else in the same boat or know how likely it is to receive an acceptance from being on the waitlist?

My housemate is currently in Queen's AST Nursing and she said literally everyone who is not accepted is put on the waitlist - so chances may not be good so there are likely a large number of people on the waitlist. But like some others have said, people probably accepted with the intentions of accepting other schools once they receive their admission letter.

Hey! I had emailed the York admissions in November 2015, and they told me that they have 150 seats out of 800+ applicants. So depending on how people did on the CASPer will determine who gets in. Hoping for the best!

Do you mind sharing your gpa in your last 10 credits?

Thanks!

isnt York admissions 66% academic basded and 33% Casper based?

Anyone know when Western is sending out acceptances?

yeah it was around a 3.4

Western's been sending out marks, but slowly. Their biggest round is at the end of May - so after final mark transcripts

Yes it is! Hoping for the best on this year's GPA-cut off (which should be around a B+ according to York GPA scale in the last 30 credits), and that CASPer test. We do not find out how we did, haha. Goodluck!

Does anybody know the policy/ procedures regarding accepting offers via OUAC? Specifically, will we still be able to receive offer of admissions from other universities even though we already accepted one offer?

so does anyone have any updates as to when york will start sending out acceptances? :(
