Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

-Bon :)

Has anyone gotten an email saying they were not accepted to U of T? Do they send them out at the same time or keep them for the end of the period?

I applied during my second year and got my denial on the 30th of June. I think they leave those for the end!

York gave out acceptances all the way until the end of August last year, so don't panic if you don't one in the first wave! Good luck to all future nurses!

Have you heard from york?

So stressful! Thanks. I probably won't even hear back for a while because I'm not done my last prereq for another month.

I had completed my BSc and MPH degrees already. However, I am in the process of re-taking the physiology prerequisite because the last time I took it was 7 years ago and I wanted to feel prepared going into nursing. So my acceptance was conditional upon acceptable performance in that course.

@zoecorn or you may just get a conditional offer! Although I have finished all my prereq's, I have not yet graduated (this June). Not sure if they wait for final grades or send out conditional acceptances.

I agree, EXTREMELY STRESSFUL!!!

@fkbes, did you get an acceptance from york?

Anyone get accepted recently?! I feel like only 1-2 waves have been sent out so far? I called and they said a lot of apps were still "under review"?

I haven't heard anything from UofT. Is that who you're referring to?

yup! sorry, probably should have specified.

I haven't heard anything from UofT yet either. I feel like they're just waiting for our final grades for the semester before they send out more acceptances.

One of my classmates from UWaterloo - Health studies program just got accepted today into the UofT accelerated nursing program. So I think they are indeed sending out offers.

Is your friend still finishing up their bachelor's or finished already?
