Hi Everyone!
This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!
I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!
I have a few universities in mind to apply -
Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!
Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.
Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!
-Bon :)
Thank you! That sounds like a great application!Who knows exactly how they send out acceptances. Could be when we applied, alphabetically after our GPAs, how they're feeling on the day lol....
I think my pre-reqs might get me, I had a 76, 77 and 78 in 3 of them (so B's...).
I don't think they look at your prereq grades. The only requirement is that none of them fall below 60%. I think you'll be fine!!!
Hi everyone,
I've also been a lurker on this forum since applying to UofT 2016, and I thought I would share the news that I got accepted today earlier as well. From the previous posts, I have to say I am super excited about studying with people with such a wide variety of knowledge and experiences!
In case people are curious about my 'stats', my final year GPA was somewhere in the 80s (I'm not sure how they calculated it because my last year was part-time). I have a BSc from UofT and an MPH from Simon Fraser University. I conducted research on public health systems for about 7 years, and then became a program evaluator for a social service agency in Toronto. I've done research and internships on community-based primary care and HIV prevention in Brazil, and volunteered at organizations focused on crisis intervention and peer support for marginalized groups like LGBT youth, women experiencing intimate partner violence, and newcomers to Canada. From this background it might be obvious that I'm more interested in community nursing than hospital-based nursing - any other community-focused nursing people heading to UofT this year??
I think a facebook group for the UofT 2016 cohort is an awesome idea. When it is up let me know and I will join!
Hi everyone,
I've got a couple of questions, if anyone here would be able to help me out:
- Those who've already been accepted to UofT (congrats BTW!!), when did you send in your completed application including the supplementary component? I sent mine in pretty close to the deadline, and I think that may mean I'll get a response much later.
- Did your application status change on the Join UofT website from 'Application Received' to 'Under Review'?
Like many others here, I too am waiting nervously for UofT's response. Good luck to everyone, and congrats to those who've already received an offer!
Congrats that you guys have heard back so soon! All your stats are fantastic (no wonder!)
I have a question, if someone (or a few) don't mind answering: do you know if any of your references were contacted? I thought that might be a telltale sign for whether my application was competitive but I keep checking with my references (I am fairly close to them) and none have even gotten a call...I would have thought the university would want to call them/follow up/verify
Just curious!
i submitted my supplementary around 2 weeks before the deadline. my references submitted their forms a day before the deadline lol
none of my references were contacted besides the email they send out with the link to the form.
@MehrG there are still 2 and a half months of sending out acceptances, you need not worry!
@Nursebagel YES!!! global health was my major and im definitely interested in some type of public health nursing. i was debating whether to do an MPH or continue on to nursing. ended up choosing nursing but public health is still in my heart :)
looking forward to meeting you all! or at least on facebook
