Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

Me neither... And I only refresh my email every 5 seconds :dead:

LOL you're not alone @Nursie944

I just got an acceptance to UofT at 1pm today!

Anyone hear from Mac yet??

If you don't mind sharing, what were your stats?

Has anyone heard from Queen's lately?

Just wondering of those that have been accepted to UofT already...was your degree already finished? or are you guys in your fourth year?

York gave out acceptances all the way until the end of August last year, so don't panic if you don't one in the first wave! Good luck to all future nurses!

@cam22

Oh no, I don't mind at all! I'm not sure if I calculated this correctly because I didn't take full course load for my last two semesters. But I think my last 10 credits would be 3.79. A couple of my prerequisite for UofT were Bs.

I have already graduated with a BSc in 2014. I decided to stay back 2 years to increase my GPA and did volunteer work. I volunteered at a health centre in a rehab unit for 2-3 years where I interacted with mostly elderly patients that had a stroke, dementia, and etc. I also am currently volunteering (1 year) in an outpatient clinic supporting people with post-surgery Hip and Knee, MS, spinal cord injury or other neurological injuries. I've also been volunteering at a paediatric clinic for 1 year, where I get to work with children facing developmental challenges. As well, I'm a child support worker for a child with autism and ADHD.

Has anyone gotten an email saying they were not accepted to U of T? Do they send them out at the same time or keep them for the end of the period?

Anyone hear from Mac yet??

Still waiting...
