Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

Did anyone else receive acceptances from Trent....I'm getting so anxious and scared. :(

Last year Trent sent out one round in Feb and another in May. There may have been some rolling offers in between but Feb and May are when they send out the bulk of their offers.

My application status on Join ID (U of T) is "application received" not "under review" or anything like that. Is that okay?

Also, I think I made a mistake on my self-reported subGPA on the supplementary application... Really hope they don't just decide based on that :(

Mine says the same! Application received

Pheww! Thank you :)

Hi everyone! Waiting for the acceptances is nerve wracking every day!:nailbiting:

I applied to UofT, McMaster, and Western (I wish I had applied to more schools).

My last year's GPA for UofT is 3.58 (~81) and last 2 years for Western is 80%(~3.49) and my cGPA is 3.61.

I have a full year of Research experience with publications, lots of hospital volunteer and community service.

My first choice is UofT and I really hope they won't reject me soon because I am hoping to finish this year with a 3.7.

Do you guys think 3.58(81) is too low to be competitive? I am wondering if I should apply for Humber college now just in case I get rejected to all 3.

Any thoughts would be helpful! Good luck to you all :)

To those of you who are currently nursing students at UofT:

Did you have your final year of undergrad completed before you received your acceptances?

Do they give out conditional acceptances if you are accepted in the first week of April?

They sent my conditional offer before receiving my final marks at the beginning of May (because my average was on the lower side). I don't know anyone else that got a conditional offer though, but many people were working/ in their Master's so it's hard to tell.

@Meganv do you mind me asking what conditions they made you follow? Like what was the grade condition to which you had to maintain?

It was a B+ average, so 76.5%. I had already completed all my pre-requisite courses

Thank you! I am in the midst of completing one of the prereq's and am a little nervous about my average for the term.

If you don't mind, what was your average before you got your final marks in May?

It was a B+ before and after
