Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

-Bon :)

I would also like to know if they do this. Would be useful when reapplying.

I was waitlisted at U of T and rejected from McMaster last year.

McMaster originally sent me a rejection email because they said I did not have a psychology prereq. I had that corrected but when I got my actual rejection email it simply says that the seats are filled and your application was unsuccesful.

U of T was along the same lines. I was waitlisted and got a rejection email at the end of the summer when I had not moved off the waitlist.

You may be able to get more information if you called the school and asked to speak with someone about your application, but normally you would just receive an email and the status on your account would change.

Hope that helps. The wait can be tough but try to stay positive!

HI ALL!

I'm a second year student at York and would appreciate advice into getting in nursing for the next school year. My goal is to get into U of T and I know they look into extracurricular and past experiences, as of right now I only have first responder experience from 3 years ago, I was wondering where I should volunteer to increase my chances to get in. Also, for those who go to York, which classes should I take to increase my marks? Especially, for the spring and summer term, I'm thinking of taking psych 2021 for the stats requirement, am I making the right choice?

Thanks in advanced!!!

hi everyone, i was just wondering if anybody has received a response back from york yet?

In previous years does UFT stick to letting out acceptances in April or have people heard in March before ?

Did anyone get accepted in the compressed nursing programs at UofT, Queens or McMaster yet?

I received an email requesting an additional reference and stressed that it needs to be in within the week. I think they're getting ready to start sending out decisions!

Hello NurseUofT2018,

They requested an additional reference on top of the 2 you had to provide in the supplementary application?

Hello Nurse123455,

Yes, they requested another work/volunteer reference. Im guessing they weren't happy with the one I provided and wanted another "opinion".

I'm just glad they gave me another chance rather than discard my application.

In previous years, I have seen acceptances go out as early as March 21st.

Has anybody heard anything from York yet?

@becaanursing, yea ive been wanting to know too lol

Has anyone gotten into Humber with anything lower than a 3.5 ?
