Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

Hey guys,

I just found out that I got accepted by Humber (second entry) today! and I am going to accept it since it's my first choice.

Anyone heard back from them as well?

What's your gpa?

was accepted into trent's compressed program today! :D

What's your gpa?

My gpa for the last two years is 3.65.

what's your gpa?

I would also like to know if they do this. Would be useful when reapplying.

Do schools let you know what was lacking from your application if they reject it?

Hey everyone!

I got accepted into Humber's 2nd entry nursing program yesterday! Applied to Mac, York and Nipissing as well. My cGPA is an 80, not entirely sure where that falls on the 4.0 scale..

for the the calculation of the last two years gpa are they looking at your current first semester and the entire previous year gpa or do they use the two years before the one you are currently in?

I was waitlisted at U of T and rejected from McMaster last year.

McMaster originally sent me a rejection email because they said I did not have a psychology prereq. I had that corrected but when I got my actual rejection email it simply says that the seats are filled and your application was unsuccesful.

U of T was along the same lines. I was waitlisted and got a rejection email at the end of the summer when I had not moved off the waitlist.

You may be able to get more information if you called the school and asked to speak with someone about your application, but normally you would just receive an email and the status on your account would change.

Hope that helps. The wait can be tough but try to stay positive!

Hi all!

I've been lurking for a while now, but thought I should join in. I've applied to UofT (first choice), Queens, UWO, and York for the second entry programs. I haven't heard anything yet from any of them, but I did apply to Ryerson as a back up program (since it is 4 years). I was accepted to Ryerson about a month ago, but I'm really hoping to hear back from the others soon. The waiting game is brutal.

I'm a 4th year Neuroscience student at Dal, and my cGPA is a 3.46 and my last semesters GPA is a 3.65... I'm a little worried about it, but I'm hoping my supplementary information will help with that.

Does anyone know when York or Toronto will start sending out admissions? I missed the CASPer exam, but rewrote it a week later... I wonder how much that will impact the application.

Thanks all!

Post-it, What was the GPA of your last semester if you don't mind me asking? I have applied to UofT as well, and was curious what your GPA was for being waitlisted

does anyone know around when trent will stop giving out acceptances?

I had an 84 or 85% on my last year, I can't remember what that is out of 4.0. U of T considers your supplementary application also, so there were others with the same or similar gpa to me who did get in.
